Hi
My horse has a history or coughing due to dust/pollen. We have had him scoped 4 or 5 years ago when he was eventing - they gave us an inhaler which did not work! .
Every year around this time he usually gets a cough (allergy of some sort we thing). Over winter he usually gets quite snotty and sometimes coughs up mucas when stabled overnight.
This winter he has been 10X better - no mucas at all (he hasn't had mucas now for over a year), he is fed off the floor, a little coughing when first worked sometimes (rarely now) but no more than others. he is a little snotty after work when he puts his head back down but it is clear and does not cause him a problem. After travelling etc we let him eat grass for a few mins to clear him out. He is fit, really well and ready for summer. (14 years old)
Occassionally before and on the last two hacks when trotting on soft ground i can hear a strange noise that almost sounds like a little whistle/asthma/wheezing type noise - you can only hear it when trotting on grass as its that faint, it seems to go in canter or you just can't hear it. He is not out of breath or anything like that, not sweating or anything and is still strong, wants to go faster etc.
Is it worth getting him scoped etc again or am i just being over dramatic about something that we are managing well and on top of?!
Thanks and sorry for the essay!
