Not sure if anyone is able to help / or shed some light on my horse please.
I have a cob cross that was heard to whistle in his vetting last July - He was unfit and purchased from field the vet did advise such a soft whistle he wouldn't worry as possible fitness related.
The horse is now fit and in full work.
He has been heard to whistle in the show ring, but not by all judges, also had a variety of trainers on him at home and the whistle is definitely intermittent. He breathes heavy / blows, but the whistle seems to be on Exhale only.
He can be a little tense at times and does get a fixed set neck and draws his tongue back when tense.
It doesn't seem to effect him in any other way - he does pull up if we do fast work - but not sure if that is his type rather than wind.
Also when I used a calmer and airwaves before the last show it was quieter, unsure if it was because he was more relaxed or the airwaves lined his throat.
His wind isn't insured due to the vetting and I lost my last horse under GA - so am reluctant to have it looked into as vet said he didn't feel was causing a medical issue - but to diagnose would need endoscope in work.
Has anyone had any similar problems?
