I posted a few days ago about the white bits I found in the bottom of one of the horse's water buckets at the yard where I work at. I decided to see whether they were coming from the bucket or the horse so I swapped the water bucket with another horse. When I mucked them out today, the bucket which previously contained the white bits is now fine and the bucket I gave to that horse once again had white bits in it - so it is definitely coming from the horse, not the bucket.

How no idea as to what they could be though!

Didnt read your other post but does the horse crib on a painted surface or concrete then drink, so bits fall in the water? Whats above the bucket on the wall and ceiling, could bits fall in the bucket? Could it be snot?

move his feed so that he either eats it outside his stable, or do his water after he has eaten his feed to see if its bits of food. can you take a photo of it

that was what i was thinking if the horse has tartar build up it might be coming off as it chews and falling into the bucket when it drinks

Could it be coming from the stable: maybe ceiling? Maybe snot maybe spit, pretty sure if your horse's tooth was falling apart you'd know about it!?

I found white stuff in ours, but I've been topping up with a kettle to prevent freezing. I think its limescale, but softish, not hard flakes. Doesn't explain that yours happens with only one horse though.

Mine looks as if there has been some leftover milk in the bottom & then when filled with water has this white stuff swirling around.

I'm still thinking limescale coming out of water due to cold... time to swap horses stables to see if it is stable (cold, brids, ceiling, whatever) or horse!
