I'm sure I've seen something about this on here before

but I can't remember, was it Saliners or Maliners.

My horse is a Warmblood X cob, she doesn't grow feathers, but she does have white legs, in case that makes a difference.

Behind both her knees there are white, soft(ish) crusts. She doesn't mind if I pick them off, she isn't itchy there at all.

So what is it and should I do anything about it?

Mallenders - if a horizontal scabby crust.
Found ion heavy feathered types, normally
I use Hoof to Heel ointment, plaster it on to soften up the sacbby bits, then as they come off, wash with dilute Hibiscrub, and reapply the ointment,
If scabby legs are a problem, a mixture of Pig Oil and Flower of Sulphur protects the legs.
Protects agaisnt mud fever, Mallendars and Sallendars ( front of hocks, samer scabs)

My cob gets this, although his is yellowish. The vet told me that it is fold dermatitis. I regularly soak the scabs off if necessary, using aqueos cream from the chemist or shampoo. I then treat the area with a mixture of pig oil and sulphur, which you can get from an agricultural merchants usually. Mix to a milk shake like consistency and rub it in every few days. Don't worry about the day glo yellow colour it turns their legs. The next day they will be brilliant white! For some reason it seems to help a bit with whiteness
