My boy has recently had a small op on his fetlock which was stapled. Can anyone tell me if when the hair grows back will it be white and if so is there anything I can put on it to stop this.

Thank you

my boy had surgery on both his hind fetlocks last year. The surgery left no white hair but unfortunately he has white hair scars where his bandages caused sores on front of his canon bones. Hopefully yours will have no white hairs. Don't know of anything that can prevent this.

Mine had surgery which has left a few white hairs but they are barely noticeable, his bandages did not get put on too tightly so no pressure sores, the hair did wrinkle being bandaged for several months but this had now gone back to normal with his coat change.

What ever you do DO NOT pick off the scabs.....or let your horse do this either! If necessary bandage till completely healed and scabs drop off! This will also help protruding skin from growing/forming!

Thanks guys. Luckily we have no bandage sores. He is wearing stable bandages at the moment as still on box rest and the first bit of scab fell off today which is what prompted my thinking about white hairs. Hoping we will get away with it.
