Once white hairs come through, is that it or can you help to get rid of them?

I have a black New Forest that had a fly mask on through summer, although there was no signs of running, it obviously didn't because now his winter coat has come through, he had white hairs across the from of his nose.
I'm absolutely gutted 😔

Will they be there for life now or is there a change that they will disappear with next year's shed?

Is there anything recommended to put on them to help?

I only had a certain fly mask on for a few days and my old lad had white stripes for the rest of his days ☹️. If you are lucky they may go though on the next coat change.IMG_20231025_193758.jpg

If they come through salt and peppery they can grow out. If it’s solid white, then they don’t seem to.

I was gutted to find pony had white hairs come through where his new fly rug, that appeared to fit perfectly, fastened on the front. They disappeared with his spring coat, they were odd hairs rather than a solid white area.

After using a Le Mieux fly mask on my mare which gripped her poll and caused a scab to form and all the hair came off with the scab she now has white hairs in her forelock. Will not be buying any more of this type of fly mark!
