Has anyone tried both to compare? We've been buying the premium pellets for years and they're OK, but am considering getting a pallet of the value ones. I don't care if the colour is different, but I'm more interested in the absorbancy. Is there much difference in absorbancy or not really?

I've used both from Liverpool & there's definitely a difference in quality. The value ones were more powdery & a lot less absorbant. I now buy Verdo as the bags are branded so I know what I'm getting is what I've paid for & I use less.

Interesting thread as I'm about to buy a load! I've used them before. I used LWP premium and they were a good idea in theory but my horse was so so dry I was constantly watering as it just got dusty.
I now have a soggier stable so am going to have another go!
I saw on another thread someone had done a lot of research and testing- just at home off their own back but the results were brilliant. The conclusion was that premium ones were by far the best in terms of absorbency and dust levels. I'm sure that thread was on this forum if anyone else remembers and could post a link?
I was going to order from White horse as it seemed cheapest. Is this a good make? I looked last night but didn't see they had two sorts! I think I pickled my brain with so many brands last night though!

could someone tell me the weight difference between a value bag and a normal bag?
husband works in biomass and has a theory which might answer some questions ;) he just deals with it as fuel though...

Used LWP last year their normal ones and found them fab!!! Love the fact they are super absorbent and don't smell!!!!
Have just today had delivered the premium ones as that is all they do now (still very good price tho!) and will report back once iv put a full bed down! I'm sure they will be just as good if not better than last years hence being now branded premium :-)

I would recommend LWP's premium pellets (ours come in a branded "Brites" bag) Ordering 1 tonne makes them about £2.50 per 10kilo bag i think.

I once bought their cheapest ones, big mistake!!! not remotely as absorbent. Hated them!

Nowadays i just put a new bag in where my boy pees, every 2-3 days. They dry up the urine nicely and i only have to fork out wet patches occasionally.

if one side, where he doesn't pee, gets dusty, i just stir it all together more.

this method is working brilliantly for me, and i take out less, and don't have to bother with the faff of wetting the pellets each time.

I have just ordered 50 bags of the premium bedding from White Horse, thought I would try it in a small order first. I have used wood pellets before and love them but the brand I have been using is quite dusty, so thought I would change.

Will report back when I have set the "new" bed up and had it down a few days.

In answer to the weight, I think without looking the premium is 10kg and the value is 15kg.

I've just brought in a pallet load of Verdo woodstove pellets, 10kg sacks. Laid some in my stable over mats. Lovely job. :D

Even though they're often sold in smaller weight sacks, I definitely prefer the premium pellets over the 'value' ones as they're less dusty and far more absorbent. You definitely need to use less of them if you have a wet horse (like me) so save money and time in the long run.
