I was recently given a beautiful pair of old-fashioned white buckskin riding breeches, very old but in first-class condition. Does anyone know how they were cared for and kept clean and white?
I don't know off hand as it is nothing I have ever dealt with, but certainly in old copies of Baily's (pre WW1) there used to be a guide to cleaning hunting kit of the time, of which white "leathers" used to be a standard feature.
I can let you know which editions had this in and possibly scan a copy of it, but not for a week or so.
Do you have trees for them as well?
Look after them if they fit as you are very unlikely to come across another pair.
