White Mane Falling Out?

Ellie is losing a lot of her white mane and I haven't a clue why. She is not rubbing at all, I thought at first that she had just caught it on something but it is breaking off about three inches from the roots so it's resembling a semi Mohawk or a grown out hog halfway along her neck!.
None of her black mane is affected at all.
She's turned away on decent grass but has brewers yeast, micro linseed and soaked grass nuts plus Lo-Cal Balancer and looks brilliant with a great coat so her diet shouldn't be the problem.
Any ideas please?

Was she in a combi rug through winter? Mine was and her mane was fine the whole time, albeit a bit thin. Finally ditched the rugs because the weather is nice and the white mane is now coming out in that lower area so probably just the aftermath of it rubbing.

No, not rugged at all; thanks.
What breeding is she?
A cob cross; by a gypsy cob out of a Welsh mare. Thanks.

Did she have an episode about 6 months ago that could have affected the hair quality and caused a weak spot in each hair? Has she got any lines in her feet? The black hair is probably stronger and not showing it as much.

Wearing full neck rugs can weaken it so can cause breakage long after you stop using them.
She's not had a rug on her in her life yet!
Have you got a mane chewer in the herd?
No herd here now; only an old mare which only came home a month ago and it had started before that.

She's been as sound as a pound healthwise, no lines on her feet, bright glossy coat and eyes; the black hair won't pull out or break no matter how hard you try! Only thing that happened in October was Goody went to the kennels but it didn't seem to bother her as she still had Flick, the old livery as company. We lost Flick 18th March which again, didn't seem to bother her (possible stoic cob syndrome!) and she settled down by herself quite happily with only the neighbour's old horse over the hedge until a fortnight ago when old Dotty came back to keep her company and they've settled well together. Perhaps that's it, it's stress that hasn't shown outwardly at all although, if that's the case, I would have expected it to have shown more when she first came here as a yearling last August, the first time she had left her breeder's place.

If there aren't any lines in her feet I'd be less inclined to suspect a stress incident. In didn't realise she was a baby, I've found big differences between baby manes and adult manes and maybe it's that but the black hair is stronger?

Perhaps irrelevant, but this year we have done worm counts instead of routine worming. We have sheep, cattle and donkeys in neighbouring fields, and have found lice on some of the horses. Currently debating whether to worm or go for the full body bath for Old Dobbin.
