My share horse has had several of these appear over the last 12 months. The first I believe was due to an ill fitting numnah which was replaced. He is currently on box rest and I went to visit and groom him having not been for 7 days and I when I removed his rug I noticed he still had the faint outline of a saddle and a lot of loose hair so I don't think he has been groomed for over a week! I'm concerned his rug may also not have been removed for the same period. When I began grooming his withers I assume his rug has applied pressure as there was a patch of loose hair and it fell away to reveal a patch of skin the size of 1/2 a postcard and another white mark. I've posted another thread on the future of my loan but what damage may have been done by this and how can it be treated? Properly fitting rugs I know will be the first step but will he have lasting damage and is there anything I can do to help the area? Thanks!
