My coloured youngster did her first dressage test on Sunday and i had prepared her a lovely white numnah to go under her dressage saddle but was a bit fed up when i put it on her as it did not look very nice and made her look a bit grubby ( she was spotless and is naturally very white) so what colour do any of you with coloured horses use please??

I always used White on Goddy!

But I did keep him very clean and very white!

have you tried a white numnah with the sheeps skin around it. This way the white will still look good on her but beacuse the sheeps skin will effectively be next to her coat (if you see what I mean) youll only be comparing her whiteness to the colour of the sheeps skin making her look whiter than she already is. Hope I didnt loose you there lol

I always use black on Spider as he has so much white on him, especially in his middle, and his blacks bits are his bottom, tail, head & top of neck.

He looks so much better with the black one, that I always use it now.
It is the first time however as I'd always only used white up until I got him.

Do what I did. Wash your white numnah with your brown one (it was ancient so I didn't think it would run!) it then goes a bit grubby itself (still looks white but just not gleaming white) and doesn't look so white next to your horse!
Works for me

i do BD and just use a plain black numnah (as opposed to saddlecloth) on my boy. he has a lot less white on than your mare and so i just felt the block of white didnt look that great against his markings. not got my BD rulebook to hand but sure anything "discreet" is fine so i imagine a black saddlecloth would be totally acceptable, you just dont see it that often cos the trend is white!!

Well discreet is an interesting word. I would think according to that you should wear black or brown to match your saddle.

I know almost everyone does wear white though!

I compete unaffiliated dressage and always wear a black saddlecloth. My mare is mainly white over her back so the black looks better and makes her back look shorter

I think its smart enough.
