I'm after 30-50 white plastic fence posts to section off parts of my field with white tape. I'm not looking to electrify it, so is there a cheaper type I can buy?

All I can find on ebay etc is electric fence kits and there a small fortune!

Um, daft question, sorry, but can I ask why you don't intend to put an electric current through it???

Coz if you're fencing for horses, IMO they just don't respect this sort of fencing unless they've had a zap from it; and although once you've put the current on and let them get a zap you can then normally switch it off for a bit to save the battery, the blighters get to know when there's no current going through (mine does, the toad!) and they'll start getting blase with it again.

Mole Valley or a similar farmer's outlet is the cheapest place to get these sort of stakes IME.

Don't mean to be negative but will it be safe if not electrified? Thinking tangling risk of anything trying to get to new grass...

We've had a couple of ignorant numpty horses who just run thru it if it's not switched on/electrified...this a) rips the posts up&often some break b) messes up the tape&requires whole length re-arranging c) causes a load of hassle with escapee and any left behind and d) can be potentially extremely dangerous as posts often shatter,(instantly&with sharp ends) and/or whack into the horse at speed&with force and tape can,at best, cut horse limbs and at worst lacerate to the bone and if they really mess up,they can go down whilst tangled in tape&break legs. There are plenty of horror stories :( Ours is always on,at full power.

Is this a serious question? Tape which is not electrified will not keep them in and is a danger as they are more likely to paddled through it and get injured. Electric fence post are less than £2 each.

There are plenty of sellers selling white or green plastic posts of various lengths on ebay, you don't have to buy as a kit. If you are not going to electrify the tape then you are wasting your time. Horses learn to respect the tape by being zapped & then they will stay away. After a while they may need to be zapped again to reinforce them to stay away from the fence. Without the electricity you may as well run a piece of ribbon around the paddock.

It's mad to use these posts in a way they are not designed to be used , it's a recipe for disaster but it's easy to get them from eBay at good prices I have been buying a lot recently they made from plastic made from oil that's why they are more costly than they where a few years ago.

It astounds me how people don't answer a simple questions, I know you are all being helpful, but it's not what she asked!

Perhaps it's not for horses? Perhaps it's to mark boundaries..........

I found Mole Valley to be cheapest and sometimes if you go to the horse sales/farm sales they sell second hands ones xx

I got mine from a local agricultural store. No horsey stuff in there so it seemed to be a bit cheaper.
