Hi all,

I have a horse who has 3 white socks which i like to have sparkly white for competing.

As she lives out....I am not keen on bathing her so lots of grooming goes on.

However.....most of the white leg products I have tried are chalk based and tbh...I do not like the dull finish.

Does anyone have any products non chalk based that they love?

many thanks

Bryndu

I use the gold label white powder.
I put it on the night before, when legs are damp after washing. Then bandage overnight, and in morning just brush the excess off.
V white socks!

Can you not Just wash her socks the night before the show?

Otherwise there's supreme products that have a white spray, but not sure they are designed for proper socks. Think it's meant to be used as a touch up on the day

Sheep face white - its a white dye that is a powder that you mix with water, paste on, leave to dry and brush out. I put it on, cut the toe out a mans sock and put that on over the top (heel to fetlock). You can turn out overnight and still have sparkly white socks. I showed from the field like this.

Thanks for this...would I get it from the Farmers Co Op?

any kind of purple shampoo is what I used for my horse with 4 white socks and also my mare that is mostly white. I have spray white for touching up on show days.

I know some people don't recommend it but I used (human) 'Touch of Silver' shampoo, like Jenna says it is purple, it brought up a white tail and 2 socks incredibly well, the tail was a dramatic improvement from it's yellow/green/brown previous colour! A friend of mine swears by a paste mix of lemon juice and baking soda, never tried it myself but I bet her boy smells good and his socks certainly require sunglasses to look at when he's off showing!
