i have been contacted by our friends who own horses regarding this vehicle
the vehicle is owned by myself a disabled white guy not eastern eurpoean at all
i have contacted as many people as possible regarding this as obviously my wife and children are now scared to go out in said vehicle as a horse lover my wife has been in tears
we have now been in touch with 2 seperate police officers and explained our whereabouts on various dates of sightings and also with the hope valley riding club i have friends who own horses and as a photographer have taken many shots of horses for friends but this is now out of hand
the vehicle is a cream ford minibus and is registered to myself so please bear in mind that if you see us we are not horse theives just horse lovers however if this plate is seen on any other vehicle than a minibus then please tel police as soon as possible and try to give a clear description as if the plates are being used the sooner they are caught the better

How awful for you being put in this situation by those people.
Its good of you to let people know. It helps to know the plates on the other van are false but not nice for you. I do hope you do not receive any hassle.
 
having spoken again to police it seems that the plates may indeed be being used on other vehicles
although we have been cleared it has now left us in an awkward position as we dar'nt go to any shows etc even to take photos for friends incase people dont realise and take things into their own hands
so please take care when seeing this vehicle i live in sheffeld unfortunately close to stables
so if you see me please dont shout at us
ours looks like a definately off creamy white has no towbar and is a fully windowed minibus with disabled badge in windscreen
i appreciate your understanding
as previously said my wifes in tears over this friends of ours who own horses who i have taken photos of are worrying that
things are getting out of hand but also if everyone who see's a white van thinks its ours then there not going to find the real culprits
 
Thank you for that. As you say it is entirely possible that someone has seen your minibus and just made plates up as your numberplate isn't one that stands out as memorable i.e. it doesn't spell anything and is a bogstandard DVLA issue one.

It is such a shame that criminals feel they can do this and affect everyone from your family through to the people whose horses are taken and the whole equine community.

Unfortunatly there is very little we can do to stop the cloning of plates, for criminals or even you or I to get a plate made up by someone a bit dodgy is VERY easy.
 
I have posted the details from the H&H news article, in regards to your situation, on another forum I frequent (in the hope that word will spread and help prevent further problems for you).

I do hope you don't suffer from abuse in regards to this matter, it's so unfortunate that your number plate is being sent around without due regard to facts.
Yes, perhaps your plate has been cloned, but I hope you don't suffer the back lash of the hysteria that is currently building due to the spread of misinformation.

It is most important that ONLY the facts are shared. My heart goes out to and your family for being implicated in this matter.

i do think its important that people still keep an eye out for this registration but only call police or post warnings if seen on any other vehicle except my minibus as i would hate for someone to see the reg and think oh its ok its innocent then find out later it wasnt
the sooner these people ( i would like to call them something else ) are caught the better
what worries me most is that as we have friends in the horse world we found out about all this and were able to deal with it
however others may not know and once the theives realise that my numbers no good anymore they may just pick another
 
can i just point out that when this all started there was apost, about the number plates. somebody apparentley had had the regs checked and they belonged to cars that had been crushed???
 
This van is down here in the south with that numberplate, very active at the moment taking pictures. 9 coloured horses were stolen last week, a red land cruiser/freelander is with them, also sighted has been a vw blue car and today reports of a red van. They have been seen in the Fontwell area today. Text going round at the moment 2.55pm.

if this is first hand information then please contact police direct as soon as possible as im the owner of the geniune vehicle and i am in sheffield south yorkshire and have been all week
the sooner this van is caught the better
please ensure this is 1st hand info and not just another round of the txts or a white van presumed to be bearing those plates as it has got that out of hand it now looks as if im going to have to be issued with a new registration for my vehicle
 
Sorry, but after just reading on another site about the horse stealing being a hoax, I rang the police here in West Sussex. They know nothing of horses being stolen, it would appear that all the text messages we are recieving are HOAX. 9 horses were never stolen. I am afraid i sent on these text messages too, but wont be sending anymore on.
