My little 11hh retired welshy is in at night Ok soaked hay and a fibre feed(bad teeth) and out in the day on the same paddock as my tb. She’s about a 6 out of 10 condition why’s and last time vet saw her said she was in good shape ( 2 weeks ago)-but defo put a bit on since then. I was wondering who is limiting grazing/ muzzling yet and who isn’t. I am not sure whether I should or shouldn’t. I’m going to be strip grazing my paddock. I though the grass was defo growing but now with the frost it may well stop? (Ps I don’t turn her out until the frost has melted either). Any advice welcome!! Thank you!

The grass is definitely growing, it may be below zero for a few hours overnight but once the sun comes out temperatures rise rapidly and the grass will be growing, it is the worst scenario for ponies at risk of laminitis, my sec a is staying in this week as she was a tiny bit stiff last Sat, a real warning sign, I am having to delay making her a paddock as the place earmarked is still muddy, hopefully setting it up tomorrow as she is bored with her present lockdown situation of a few walks and a lunge each day but better safe than sorry.
