I do has got me doing things and rescuing animals and i get these strange feelings * you got to check on ... you got to go.... * its eary
Someone had asked me tuesday to take their horse to a comp on thurs today . Something made me say on Tues no I cant I need to stay with my horse . strange or what:confused:

As most know my mare is on box rest for t her lami recovery

We are for once in a stable condition no pulse no heat no rotation a little sinking ( vets not too worried ) no pedal bone infection . Well just a little while ago I went to check her to put her massage pad on and give her the last of the baitrol she was lying down she was up on stomac not flat but quite happy dosing , so i thought like many times before awwwwwwww i leave her for a bit
well half hr later as in 1 hr ago went out to check her and this is what i found .

took picture to show vet as my first thought was OMG she kicked the wall with her recovering foot prob done concussion and damaged it, she had a tongue twister ball which she has kick off as you can see its missing, i put rope round and was struggling to get her up as she is 16hh all my strength i manage thats taken a few years off my life i was shaking , I have got many horse up from cast no prob but this was worried she damaged her hoof shaking anyway vets been says she ok phewwwwwwwwwww
a cut above her eye and sweaty and stiff but ok .

HI

Yes stopped shaking have bathed her eye and put dermisol on gave some hay . She seems ok just a little sorry for herself , bless her i am having new cctv fitted tomorrow as i like to keep an eye on her at night and hate going out there disturbing her all the time . Funny i was clearing the shelf in my bedroom for the cctv box and screen when i thought hmmmm still not up i must go check on her.. TY for asking :D

To be honest she was so quiet her stable is beside the house only 8 inches between her stable and my room i was in 8 ince and normally you can here her snorting, that i didnt here much noise even her kicking the ball off the holder , she doesnt panic normally . when i saw her like that i didnt know what to think she wasnt moving . Could be stroke- dead- thats where the first shaking then reality thought as she lifted head and tried to get up OMG her foot as she damaged it.

I think I would feel sorry for myself if I was in her position too! Life is funny sometimes, I think we should listen to our gut instincts more! Hope the CCTV gets sorted out soon, is she at home?

yes she is at home this is how close her stable is to the house lol i just took this she is at the door now

YOU CAN JUST SEE the cut over her left eye with creme on

It was hard pulling her as you see she was so far over the other side but my adrenaline kicked in after a while , i was nearly at the point of screaming for help but didnt want her to panic:)

Glad she's ok - hope you've had a stiff drink to recover...

Have lost count of the number of times, that 6th sense has happened to me, the spookiest was when I got a pain in my eye, felt really uneasy, went to the stables to find my horse stood at the back of his stable, with his eye half shut looking gunky..

called the vet and he'd scratched the cornea...

Yes, and I always listen to it. Don't care if people laugh. It's always right. Latest one - acute sensation that I should go and look for one of my livery horses, in the field, at 1a.m. Did - he was standing with a broken hind leg.

Are you sure she wasn't colicking?

Nope as she was lying down half hr so b 4 piece full snoozing and vet did a check and he said no everything normal heart breathing gut .:)
she been in 7 months really loosing her hair I guess she was itchy and just wanted a good roll . When i got her up she stood waited at the door no sign getting down again, vet said ok to hay her she ate normal and behaved normal after that no drugs given

:(:( poor horse RIP horsey
good on u acting on u instinct

Me and now I know to act on them.
My mare suffers from regular colic attacks which are curently being investigated (not food related!) and the last few times before an attack I have looked at her and something starts saying to me, she is not right, long before the attack comes on.
I'm sure my vet thinks I am an overprotective owner as the last couple of times I called them out immediately on feeling this and so far I have been correct and we have managed to catch it before it has got too far.
Or maybe I just know my mare very very well!

Yes I do, when I had my two comp horses my mare had major colic surgery and appeared to have recovered she was back in work looking healthier than ever :). I always on a Thursday had a lesson on her which went amazing and then a lesson on my boy. They were stabled next to each other, my mum had sorted my mare so by the time my lesson with my boy had finished she was happily tucking into her hay. My boy was a nightmare on the lesson though he could be quirky to put it nicely :D this was more than usual. When I put him in his stable he was kicking and rearing on the spot then boxwalking then back to kicking :( he even turned his nose up at his tea.
I thought he was not right waited for a while and he settled :)
Next morning I had a call from YO I thought it was my boy, but it was my mare she was PTS that day and the block of horses were my horses were was so silent you could hear a pin drop.
I really believe he sensed something the night before.
