Im going to lunge my horse tomorrow before I ride him,so Ill have no side reins with me. He'll be wearing his saddle and bridle, and ill have only my lunge line and lunge whip.

Can anybody help me in-
How to attatch the lunge to his bridle?
How to use the lunge whip?

Ive lunged before, but everytime diffrent people have told me diffrent things!

You need to clip the end of the lunge line to one bit ring and then feed the lunge line over his head and through the other bit ring and this is the inside side. Use the whip as you would normally to drive him forward from behind.

I would personally attach the lunge line through his bit, then over her poll and attach it to the other side of the bit. I tend not to use a whip with either of mine as neither need any form of encouragment and if they did I would rope circle.

Just to throw you I never put my lunge line like that LOL. I clip on the outside bit ring and feed through the inside

If you are not confident with the whip and how to use it I wouldn't use it, use your voice and the lunge line instead.

I try and use the whip as an extension of my hand (if that makes any sense??!) also I have been taught to keep the whip low.

I also use body language a lot and tone of voice, I can be seen often trotting beautifully whilst my boy also trots- looks silly but the visual aid seems to help him.

I just bought Jenni L-C's lunging book, it is worth a read and only cost me a fiver off amazon
