I am thinking of buying an ex racer and owner is a bit vague about his past so trying to do a bit of snooping. I have seen his record on racing post and he was last in all 5 of his runs so obvious why he didn't continue as a racer! If there is anyone out there that is good with the internet cold they find any pics/vids of him racing or any other info? Curiousity mainly :) Racing name is Mujdy

Well he continues to be messed about now in his next career as has been bought by a total novice who totally agrees he's in over his head with retraining an ex racer. Going to see him again this afternoon with a friend who is bloomin good at spotting lameness (I am as blind as a bat and find it difficult to see anything!). So fingers crossed all is good and I can give him a new life

Your horse started it's life as a Darley horse. He obviously didn't show anything at home as a 2yo so he never ran. He was then sold. He started his 3yo career with Danial O'Brien in Kent, a small time trainer. His 2nd race was for a trainer called Zoe Davison from East Sussex who ran him at Folkestone, Chepstow and Lingfield. His final start was at Leicester for Brett Johnson in Surrey.

This is his sales page as a 2yo from Darley.

He was pretty useless as a racehorse to be honest! He is well bred but that doesn't always mean anything on the track if the horse doesn't perform. Having watched a couple of his races he looks like a nice wee horse he just didn't have the speed nor the stamina to finish his races.

The 2 Observatory horses that I have worked with are both completely different animals. One had the 2nd worst conformation that I have ever seen but he was a lovely, genuine horse who would try his heart out for you. The other is well put together, a decent wee racehorse and a stubborn mule when he wants to be. Both jumped really well though.

You can always try Weatherbys...if you have the birthdate...they gave me all my horses racing form information / breeding going right back to when time began.
I also got a dvd done of my horse racing by the betting channel..SDS i think...so I actually can watch her racing and she wasnt that in to it either!!
I got her as a scr*wed up 9yr old rescued from someone who couldnt handle her and didnt want to learn how to either unfortunately. Just wanted to be flash on an tb. Took at least 2 years to get anywhere near 'normal' and I have had her now for 13+ years - well worth it and i would do it again without thinking...but maybe not all the bucking and bronco activity that was a 'phase' she went through!!

I agree, go to racing post and pay the 20p per race (you can watch each one three times)

I rang the trainer of my ex racer who (thankfully) assured me that he had no injuries apart from the odd scratch, was 'forward' but just really have the attention span to be a good racer ;)

You'll never know until you actually see him ... I bought mine from a complete muppet who was too scared to even lead him in from the field ... who she bought from a bigger muppet (bought for her daughter as a first horse!) ... poor bugger didnt stand a chance! Nobody had ridden him for two years apart from when the 'daughter' got thrown off.

He's now being reschooled (we're still on groundwork) but showing wonderful progress.

P.s He did have to have half of his teeth ground down .. had four hooks (two top, two bottom) ... so make sure you check teeth if you get him
