How has had a thermography for their horse?
What does it show up? Tendon injuries, arthritis, sore muscles, hoof problems?
I have been reading about it and it sounds excellent for pin pointing hot spots that might be causing pain but am struggling to find anyone in Scotland that does it.
Also is it just a hand held device connected to a laptop so you can see the images straight away?
Thanks.

it's done with a camera, similar to a digital camera so you can see the image on the screen. The girl who did it emailed the pictures to me.
Better to have a vet do it though, the girl told me my TB was very bad and should have immediate vets attention. Showed the images to my vet who told me there's nothing wrong with horse and he would in fact be very concerned if there was no heat in those particular areas!
She also told me that there was nothing wrong wtih my mare despite the fact that one side was much colder than the other.
Turned out the mare is a Wobbler!

So yes it's a good tool but a good vet is much better!

Thanks for that. I wonder why its not used more often as it sounds easier and cheaper than a bone scan or mri but seemes to give similar results.

Just had it done on my mare because although she recently passed a 5 stage vetting, she is not right and not jumping what she is definately capable of. She was not lame but I knew something was not right. It showed heat spots in her neck, withers and shoulder. There was also a lot of heat in her hind quarters where she has been compensating for the pain in her neck and shoulder. I was definately impressed and would definately use it again. I think it will give you an idea of where the problem is so the vets can concentrate in that specific area.
I was emailed the pictures within hours which my vet is looking at next week. In the mean-time, I am waiting for the McTimoney appointment for her.
