Last weekend the 4-in-hand had their first outing with us. In the dressage we were 3rd

, although TBH I think the judge wasn't watching as it was a weak test. Dad who was driving found the cones came up too fast

, so had 5 down plus time. In the marathon they decided at the last minuite to go HC as alot of people were being bounced at the vetting, and we were out of the places. In the 3rd Richard got a leg over a trace, so they were pretty slow there and got 20 pens. but all in all it was actually a miracle that they made it round. Progressing from pre-novice to 4-in-hand in 6 events I don't think has been done before!

Went to Littlewick green show, just a local, and did the 2'6, 2'9 (all they went up to) and the WHP. Very pleased with pony because he won all 3 classes

. Still in shock tbh. I'd got back from holiday in New York on Saturday morning so was still seriously jet lagged at 6:30 on monday morning plus except for riding him Sunday pony hadn't been sat on for two weeks (due to holiday) just been lunged (not even with any tack on) and put on the walker!

Wondering if I should just stop riding him for two weeks before a show in future

, I mean it clearly works even if it does send him loopy (not difficult to do at the best of times anyway

My mum did a local show.

First class - intermediate. Tinker was a little sh*t and they got eliminated for the first time in 8 years

Second class - ridden coloured. She was sort of forced to do it. She came 2nd so was worth entering just so she could come away with a rossette
grin.gif
And there was someone riding a grey in the class who got palced 3rd and stormed out of the ring before the lap of honour and said 'this is a joke. none of them were better than me.'

Boom is still lame - 2 months and 1 day, and still counting.

Took my daughter to a very big two day agricultural show. She won the 12 & Under Best Rider competition and then went into the championship against the winners of the 13-16 Best Rider and won the championship, and got a massive trophy! Also came 3rd in Show Hunter Pony and 7th in Riding Club Pony, so a very good day overall!

I went to my first show in 13 years, and the first show for my horse, and it was my first show in Germany so I was horribly nervous, esp as one of the reasons I got my horse at a reasonable price here was cos the old owner said she has done one show and he was a nutter!

Was the only one in the dressage class without a dressage saddle and wearing a skull cap (pretty obvious that I was English I think!) ... got some funny looks from some of the pretentious german riders, but most of them were lovely to me...think they realised that I was petrified ! :)
For the novice classes in Germany you have to ride the test wtih 2-4 others which is a bit strange, .. but horse was a good boy... got crap scores as was very tense, but the rearing and napping which we had at home last year when I first got him did not surface again so was chuffed with him.
did 2 jumping classes (85 cm - think it is about 2ft 10") .. was funny in the first class.. don't think the poor boy knew where to look first.. despite rider being a numpty and having to ride 2 circles he jumped everything and in the next class he did a lovely clear and was 7th (from 26) so am really pleased with him... esp as he had not seen a pole last Christmas
Sorry... bit long and self indulgent, but he was a bit of a chance buy and we have had some real ups and downs over the last 12 months and there were times I was wonderng if we were ever going to get anywhere.... (he is a Trakehner so has his own sense of humour !)

Took my baby horse to his first RC clear round, needed a couple of circles but jumped everything clear if you know what i mean, inc spotty planks and a little gate filler, and jumped the only clear in the WH and also in the open jumping with my older one. ground was quite holding and really pleased with him for the extra effort.

So fab day on sunday, baby not recovered yet had to get him up out of bed yesterday!! lol

ooh, didn't realise that was you - nice to meet you - sort of! yes, could have done without the wasp. didn't help the pony's nerves. he didn't like the noise from the collecting ring of poles being knocked down - he's scared of poles.

managed 3rd last again this weekend at priory - seems to be a good place to be.
