Who do you go by vet or stable owner??????

Hello
l am just for asking and l DO NOT mean to be BAD or cause any trouble but who would you go by the Vet or stable own??? The thing is my cob has a sore leg and the vet said it was one thing and the owner of the stables l am at does not think that it is what he said .
so l am in middle {can not spell word} l really like the stables l am at the owner and her family are great so are the rest of the people there .the vet is nice and is really good with my horse
l would be happy to hear what yous say. AS l said l do NOT what to cause TROUBLE.

Hi, its your horse, so don't get upset about the opinions, if you want three opinions, ask three people!
I kind of assume that the vet would have given your horse a complete examination whereas the YO might just "be looking over the stable door"
What are the symptoms and what treatment did the vet recommend?
Are there any photos?
Is the farrier involved?
In the long run you have to rely on the vet, but if you are not sure, you can phone up the senior vet in the practice and ask for a second opinion, make it clear that you need a bit more understanding.
I will pm you as I know some of the vets locally.

Id take everyones opinion!! The end of the day only you can choose which one you believe in!!
To be honest id ask YO opinion and then if serious id call in the vet.
On serrious matters id go on vet opinion just on the safe side.

However, it isnt always right, i know a horse who had a problem, YO said one thing, vet said another, a course of expensive treatment and lo and behold problem still there, YO was right.
BUT no matter how experienced YO they arent qualified vets....

I'd ask for a second opinion from another vet. I know that's another call out charge but vets can sometimes get it wrong. Hope you can get it sorted soon.

It's a brave (or foolish/arrogant) yard owner who tries to play vet for her liveries. She can't win - if she's right, she'll pi** the vet right off - and if she's wrong, she'll lose face with her liveries.

Presumably, the vet has explained his diagnosis to you and suggested treatment. If it makes sense to you, then follow that - if it doesn't, ask vet more questions! Vets are occasionally wrong - yard owners are occasionally right - but I wouldn't gamble my horse's health on ignoring the vet unless I had a VERY good reason for doing so!!

Maybe get another opinion from a vet (if its to with your horses hooves get your farrier)

It's always interesting to hear others opinions - especially experienced horse owners.

However, you pay for a professional service from your vet, and even if the opinion differs from your yard owner - the YO will respect the fact that you are seeking veterinary advice and not seek to interfere.
