Need to get Ethel insured soon and wondered who everyone is with and how good the companies are. I have been told by a few people that NFU are good .. any other suggestions?
Im with Petplan equine for both of mine, and they have been excellent about paying Mellys vet bills, an also changing Serens policy around. They are worth getting a quote from!
Petplan for me everytime. I used to be with Equestrian Direct, who were also very good, but I think they have changed hands now.
Petplan might be a bit pricier than some, but they are reliable, and good at paying out - our YO bought a horse about two months ago, she insured it with them for a value of £500 (he is just a 16yo she bought for hacking). Anyway, the vet came out to do his teeth two weeks after she took out the insurance, and the short story is he has to have an operation to remove two infected teeth, at a cost of over £2000. Well, Petplan asked for two years dental records from her - a letter from the previous owner stating he had seen the dentist was all they wanted - and they have agreed to pay out. Superb.
Petplan, had my ex-racehorse since last September and they have paid around £1250 in vets fees so far. Have run up more since then and horse doesn't seem to be getting any better.
