Well i've not got my own yet, but when I do (very soon hoopefully) it will be a share with my husband so I guess I'll have to let him ride it......
Although he's a super rider so I have no worries about that. I also know that as he's a nervous rider he would never overdo it!
I also plan to let my sister ride it, as she will be our holiday cover/back up. She isn't a very technical rider but I know that she would be happy to just have a ploddy hack and as long as teh horse isn't a complete nutter will handle things fine. I'm hoping to get her a few more lessons before then to brush up a bit.
I will of course let my instructor ride it, but then it is likely to be one she's had a hand in producing anyway!
Just my YO and instructor now! I have always found him quite easy to ride, he's lovely (or I think so) on the flat, instructor loves him on the flat too. He isn't the easiest to jump but as long as you keep your leg on and stay with him, he's great. However, a teenager on the yard borrowed him a couple of weeks ago to SJ as he PC instructor says she has to ride lots of horses.... he ditched her 3 times and she only managed to get over the second fence in the end before retiring
I thought he was a lot more genuine that he actually is, it seems!
So now, I don't let anyone else ride him as there's no point if he's not going to be nice! Same rider also couldn't get on with him on the flat though it maybe that she isn't used to such a big horse. The only people who now ride him are me, my YO (she hacks him quite regularly and schools sometimes if I'm not around), and I will let my instructor get on if she wants too.
Lucky has had 3 people on her in her life. The ex-jockey that backed her, the girl that rode her where I brought her from, and me! There are some people I'd like to see on her, as I'd like to see how she is working from the ground. However, I am more than happy with her just being ridden by me at the moment, as she is alot more trusting of me now, and is a little bit sharp, so I wouldnt want her upsetting someone or visa-versa!!
Goddy had a few people ride him, and was fine. I don't make a habit of letting lots of people ride my horse though, as I don't see why I should!!
