Just wondered how many of us are horse hunting

How long have you been looking?

What are you looking for?

Experiences so far?

HHMM do I want to know?

Same as Snoopysue when i am looking i never find what i want or the price just isnt right.

Then when im not looking like the other day i come across a stunning mare which was love at first sight.

What kind are you after?

When i was looking for a safe hack who was willing to play the hacking out game i went all over the place and tried lots and lots but nothing really was as described in the adverts. So gave up and bought a newforest colt to play with in my spare time a few weeks later i was offered a real nice one that was everthing i was looking for but alas i just never had the funds to keep yet another . My newforest is now 3 and is a blank canvass and will become my new happy hacker hopefully but it as been a long wait.

me, looking for a safe allrounder to gewt me round a 2ft 9 course next year, have lessons on this winter around 16hh and must load into my 505 trailer as not going to swap that.

ME. So excited might need to buy some Tenas! Going to some yards in Sussex and looking for safe (ish) hack/local dressage for slightly over the hill but still keen lady (me). I have to bear in mind I need to buy something that as soon as I get it home the weather will change and I will be faced with hacking on my own on a strange (probably young) horse in a gale! Must NOT overhorse myself.

Im looking but not seen anything yet. When i get back from hoilday i'll start ring up about the ones i like but im prob going to go down the dealer route.
Just need to stop likeing the ones that are waaaay out of my budget.

Sort of...well I was until the last one I went to try caused me to do a rather spectacular unscheduled discount which fractured my hand

Cant look at any more at the moment as cant really use one hand at the moment. Plus I kind of think I might wait until the spring now.

The only trouble is I am missing riding so much I will probably go looking again as soon as I can hold the reins

I was looking for a 15hh to 15:3hh safe/sensible horse to do a bit of showing, dressage and hacking, but quite clearly I am a bad 'picker' as this one wasnt really the safe sensible type lol

I'm looking but it is a little too soon as OH hasn't finished fencing the top paddock, he's been busy getting his tractor and plough ready for his first ploughing match on Sunday: daughter has said she expects him to come first as she got a first on her first outing!

I'm keeping an eye out for a youngish (4-6 year old?) allrounder 14-14.2 to buy for daughter (10 but tall) to take jumping but also could do XC, WHP and a bit of showing too (I'd prefer a native as plaiting is not good in our house) for daughter to have fun with, want something with a nice kindly temperament on the ground but ridden doesn't have to be well schooled yet or a total saint as she's big enough to cope well with forward going ones and gets bored with push button rides (why is it that 10 year olds LIKE to ride the naughty ponies?), and young enough that she can keep till at least Uni time when she may want to sell / move on to horses after uni - don't want much there do we??!

Also I think I'd like as a companion to the above a nice kind suitable for novice hack, happy to hack alone must be good in traffic (aint no-one round here hacking in the day time) ,safe, non-spooking obedient cob type not too tall but must carry 12-13st ie for me

(note to self : must loose weight), but could be ridden safely by a friend who doesn't ride as much as daughter when she has a friend for tea so must also be capable of popping little fences and not averse to a bit of fun now and then. This one could be loan or buy, could be older. Don't want much there either! Was that pigs flying past the window?

A friend was looking for a CBxTB 16.2hh and could not find one. BUT quite a few CB partbred around 15.3hh on various sites. Would be excellent for you. I have three mares pure CB 15.2/3 and they are great for the mature rider who does not want to be overhorsed. I will soon be an oap!

I really didn't want to read that Oldmare! Poor you, hope you're soon riding again. Perhaps I'll ask if they have any stuffed ones on wheels!

LOL, with my luck at the moment, combined with a stunning ineptitude at choosing horses, a bl00dy wheel would fall off

I am!

Looking for an ID or ID cross mare. Must have 10" of bone and be sane and sensible. Preferably 16h to 16.3h and 6 - 9 years old. Will be used by older chap (me) to hack, alone and in company, hunt a few times a season from the back and maybe jump a few, low, fences next summer. Not many of these old fashioned heavy types about it seems.

All very frustrating as wanted to get some time in before the really bad weather comes along. Is there a limit to how many times you can check the horse site classifieds in a day!!?

WHERE I've not seen them?? Pure CB are too wide for me would kill my dodgey hips lol

Another horse tried was lovely but too much horse for me. home bred and huge mover got the impression he would not be so obliging when not ridden by a pro and taken out of his comfort zone!!

Well I will most likely have a mare available for light hacking only soon.... 10yo,15hh, mare, can take 10st ish max, great in all traffic, cows, tractors etc, never strong/silly. For long term loan or loan with view to buy. PM me if anyone is interested.

Yes i'm looking - not very good experience so far - but I am very specific in what I want (or could that be over fussy)!

So if anyone out there knows of:

2yr old or 4 yr old ID x TB (no warmblood in breeding)
chestnut
gelding
not too much white on face - but must have some
not to have white stockings at all - could cope with one SMALL white sock - but would prefer no white at all
to make 17 hh +
middlewieght hunter
must be HOYS quality
NO blemishes

and the good part - not expecting it to be cheap - but not going to get ripped off!

Also seeking 42-45 single male 6'2" - 6'4" - thats not an idiot (vet would be handy) - can't find one of them either

I too am looking. Found a gorgeous ned and then he failed his vetting

Ideally I am after a 15.2+ (pref 16+) ID X mare or gelding
MUST hack alone and in company
About 7 - 12yrs
upto £2000
Preferably local to me

That's about it really. I am trying to not limit myself by saying oh that's not my type but have to say not totally blown away by thoroughbreds.
