Am I the only one on here who's still loving the snow and gets excited everytime it snows? Everyone seems to be so Bah Humbug about it

We still have well over a foot of snow here, 6" have fallen in the last day and the grounds frozen to at least a foot deep.

And I LOVE it. Car's can be awkward to get out of the street but once on the main roads it's fine-the counsil have done a bloody good job!. Park near the field and walk up.

And there's NO MUD!!!

Horses are perfectly happy munching on their bale of hayledge, in their nice warm rugs. Depsite some peoples beliefs, they haven't yet dissolved or frozen to death or broken a leg. The bales are easy to roll in (nice hard ground) and they haven't destroyed the ground yet round the feeder

Yards frozen but it's easy enough to clear a patch and salt it.

Haven't ridden in almost 3 weeks, but I probably could walk and trot in the school if I could be bothered. And hack round the fields. But the horses are happy just playing with their friends and a coulpe of weeks off won't do any harm.

Long live the frozen ground and pretty white stuff

Hmm I'm in two minds, I love the no mud, no mud-fever worries, no manky tails etc. Horses are actually keeping quite warm. But it's the water that's doing it for me. Taps in yard frozen and in field, so having to cart buckets and containers. It's fine now, but have to go back to work on Monday so horses will be in field for 12 hours at a time.

On balance though, yes I probably prefer the snow! And I have a good excuse to drive my land-rover everwhere

Ours all melted over the last week, but now it's falling again and I'm really excited.

Scooby's feathers stayed so clean... since it melted they're plastered in mud again and I'm so paranoid about mud fever. And no muddy wellies! No slipping over in the horrible stuff! (Didn't fall over ONCE in the ice, but did about five times in the mud.) What I'd really like is for the snow to return, but without the frozen water pipes which mean we have to bucket water from the kitchen all morning which takes AGES. Oh, and without the sheet ice on the yard, please. And with a tarp to put over the school so I can still ride. Then the snow would be perfect.
