Every other Tuesday I work late til 8 o'clock , and mum does the ponies for me.
All she has to do is feed them and check them over, put rugs on or off as they live out.
But I still get it into my head that something will go wrong!
The sad thing is they tend to behave better for her than they do for me :D

i worry more when I'm looking after them! thinking I'm always going it wrong! saying that though i did worry profusely when we went abroad for three weeks!

I know what you mean, I always worry! Mine live out and I go once a day normally as there is three of us up at different times in the day to check them all. Whilst he wasn't well I was there twice a day or more and now I am back to once a day I can't cope! I am sat here now wishing the yard wasn't so far away (i have been spending a fortune in petrol!) so I could just pop up to see them.

One day I'll have them at home hopefully!

Someone tried robbing the horses 2 nights ago and I've barely slept since. All neighbours overlooking paddock are being vigilant, we've installed a security light, chained the gate with an 80 pound thick metal chain and the police are driving by every few hours for the next week or so.
Still worried sick :o

How dreadful for you - swines

I worry constantly I can't have anyone else do my horses I had surgery yesterday and still had to go do all the jobs did have my dads help though I would get shot if the doctors found out think I have a ocd problem but also don't have anyone else to do them cause I'm on a private yard so its not just u haha

If I could get hold of them I'd kill them. How can people really take peoples pets? Policeman was really sympathetic with my emotional rant and agreed its sick, however he did chuckle at me insisting stealing a live animal should be a form of kidnap and not theft, as they aren't 'items' or 'things.'
I'm scared that the day I let my guard down is the day they'll be back :(

Thinking of you and sending postive vibes.

I worry ridiculously, I need to stop because it's starting to take over. They Are on livery and I worry they are not fed, don't have enough hay, are not warm enough, do feed analysis profiles over and over in case the feed is not right. Yet my livery yard are excellent and I know for a fact they are feeding etc. I just need to let go!!

My horse doesn't have a very demanding routine really but I often think late at night I 'know' something is wrong... There never is! Or I wake up at like 4 and want to go check her... Then I worry about going alone in the dark and have to wait til a more human hour.. So yes I am a fellow worrier really! Luckily she is very near my house so I can go whenever I want. *

Yep, OCD worrier. When he had colic I slept at the yard on the hayloft for 4 days, and organised an army of friends (I have such wonderful friends) to watch him on 2hr shifts while I was at work so he was never un supervised.

OCD OCD :(

Constantly. Mine are on full livery so all I do is worry that they are being done properly, that they are getting enough hay, feed, being rugged properly, etc. Wish I had the time to do them myself, but I have to work so much to afford them!

Not me I am afraid.

I reckon as long as a horse has their basic needs met then just because I don't 'do' them and tuck them up in their pjs with their favourite cuddly toy it isn't going to kill them :)

My horses have food/water/shelter what they do with that in their own time is up to them.

:( I'd hate to be your YO, sorry, I would find that insulting if my owners thought the way you do.
If they do then they are kind enough not to say so.
I do quite comprehend that no-one looks after a horse in the same way, but it doesn't mean that the care it is any less competent.

All my liveries are on full, I follow instructions to the letter, although all my owners trust me to make decisions about their horses's welfare all by myself  I haven't killed, starved, or maimed a single one in, ohhhhhhh, ever.

I doubt you'd hate to be my YO - apart from having far too many rugs, I am a model livery. ;) I have always had mine on full livery and worked at yards where full livery was offered and there have never been any problems. At the moment I am on two different yards - one do everything I ask and more and I can't fault them, the other have slightly different views than I do and I know for a fact that my horse doesn't get as much hay or turnout as I would like, quite apart from the fact that I have come up more than a few times to find that he hasn't had his last feed, or the supplements haven't been added, or something small like that. The pros outweigh the cons, which is why I stay, but yes, I worry.

Having said all that, I would probably worry whatever, because it's what I do. Nothing personal about the YO at all.

Well Im home from work, and happy to say the ponies are fine...and suprise suprise mum fed them, put their rugs on, and checked them over WITHOUT anything horrific happening to them :D :D :D

elsiecat - Sorry to hear that and hope its the last you've seen of them.

I'm a major worrier. I went up when fireworks were due to start at the other side of town the other night. If my fiance does the ponies, I get him to text me that everythings ok. I managed to restrain myself from texting whoevers looking after them, when I go away for a mere 2 days.
Ponies live out, have water and ad-lib hay. Nothing much needs done with them, but I still worry.

Its like the last time my parents kept the dog for me to go away to a wedding. Got a text to say my drunken brother came home, did a good deed by letting dogs out and remembering to bring them in. My parents questioned him the next day. "You let the dogs out?" (at 2.30am). "Yep and I let them both back in!" VERY proud of himself.
"What about the third dog that's staying with us?" Realisation dawns. "Crap!" My dog at 4am, sitting outside my parents bedroom howling to get in. How do you miss a massive white dog, when they others are tan/black? Lol.

I am flying off for two weeks tomorrow and am already worrying. My OH is looking after 4 of them at home and I bottled it today and asked somebody else to come in and check them for me aswell. It isnt that I dont trust anybody else i just worry. I know those ponies and the slightest sign that something isnt right and i know OH is not that sensitive to them,
I am also worrying about the cats , dogs, pigs, sheep, ducks ,turkeys and chickens so perhaps it explains why I dont go away very often !!

At last yard I worried constantly as I KNEW she wasn't getting done properly- not being given meds, fed, not being brought in etc (& yes I was paying full livery)
Moved 2 diff yard & since then don't worry at all-around horse done exactly as I want & prob better than I would!
& I no if theres anything wrong/ suspect something wrong I will b told right away (as happened when horsey found on 3 legs- long story!)
Have 2 say I love me yard!!
