I do.
My OH has just gone back to work after 2 weeks holiday and I’m missing him terribly.

We spent 2 weeks here in our own little paradise with all our animals and we loved every minute of it.

NO sunburn, no sand mixed in with your sun lotion, NO extra ½ stone put on through over eating, NO queuing at the airport and waiting hours, NO tones of washing from airline damaged suitcases, and NO overdraft cos you spent hundreds on a holiday in a hotel that’s swimming pool was out of action and you had to eat out because the food was so bad.

How lucky am I (no need for answers to that, I know I’m the luckiest person in the world), even last night I had him up at 11pm because I thought I heard banging down the yard so we went to see the horses who for some reason were quite spooked and he hung around for an hour to make sure everything was ok, and yet again he was up at 6.30am with me this morning (as he is every morning) turning and mucking the horses out, and tending to all our other animals.

We make a good team, that’s why I miss him so much.

Huge, warm chocolate brownie and latte for reading.

Thats a lovely post!
I too have a fantastic OH. Hes taken to horses better than i ever could have expected. He even understands midnight trips to the yard when theres an unexpected storm and I want to check everythings ok!
He keeps my neddies in carrots and apples, and they love him almost as much as i do

I do too. I just had a back operation and relied on my husband to look after my horses, which he did, BEFORE he left home at his usual 5am ! Then after a long day, he did the horses again after work.

I look forward to my holidays too, because it gives us time to be together.

That's exactly it in a nut shell, that's bought tears to my eyes, my (i mean our) horses adore him.

Erm, I'm working on mine!

We've just moved in together and I'm so paranoid about the time I spend at the yard (my ex hated it) but he really has no problem with me getting home late and going on all evening about the amazing this Hens did!

Still trying to actually get him on a horse though!

Aw, you've made me miss my OH now.

He's a diamond too. We love nothing more than having a week off together. And he's brill with the horses. He isn't as obsessed as I am but he'll help out when I need it and wants to pass his driving test so that he can give me some time off occassionally and go do neddy himself.
laugh.gif
He won't let me go to the yard on my own in the dark mornings and helps me set up jumps etc when he's there with me. Sometimes he prefers to stay at home while I go up and ride but he puts tea on for me getting in when he does. Think I'll ring and see how he's doing as he's off work sick today

I do too.

Totally non-horsey guy, he encouraged me to get back into horses when our daughter was v little, and bought a horse for me too...he was thrown in at the deep end when my work hours meant I couldnt bring it in and he was there trying to work out which horse he needed to collect and insisted on learning how to pick feet out and change rugs....

Does all the mending + DIY thats needed etc. and he now has his own horse too.....we do stuff together, go out on hacks and he doesnt mind when I stink
grin.gif

Loves going to events like Bramham when previously he was a footie lad

......

Now we have 3 horses...we are a horsey family and really thats thanks to him, otherwise it would have been just me doing my thing on my own.

Bless him....he also cooks and irons better than me, is very handsome and all round great.

Add mine to the list...

Doesn't ride and a bit nervous handling them (which Taffy doesn't help by pulling faces at him) but always willing to give it a go.

Recently, I tried a lovely £1,500 Ideal VSD as we've had real problems getting a saddle to fit - my OH's response (after the initial spluttering) was to say 'well, if that's what he needs, that's what we'll get' - we're not made of money either so getting this means other things we'd planned will have to go by the wayside for a while but how 'diamond' is that!

Always happy to come to horseshows or down the yard and likes to be involved. Adores Taff and is constantly checking that I've put the right rug on or washed him off properly after riding and bought him a salt lick the size of a small boulder :-)

He really is one in a million and I'm very lucky to have him

Me. I do....
He fixes all the stuff that goes wrong. Went up on the roof of the hay shed in the wind and rain to reseal it.
He bought him Little Stig.....and this is someone who thinks horses are "stinky smell creatures"
Yeah right, you are fooling nobody!

My OH is great too - he has gone from 'if you get a horse never expect me to have anything to do with it' to riding, putting up stables, coming down every evening just to sit in the field and watch the horses graze. He is worryingly fearless with the horses although after seeing me nearly get my head taken off by flying hooves a couple of times he is getting a bit more aware.

The horses love him and our lives now revolve totally around the horses and their needs. He is fab!

My OH is great with the horses.
He hated them a few years ago lol!
I hacked back from the show the other day (5 minwalk) to find OH waiting for me in amongst 7 horses from a 6month tb foal to cobs feeding them blackberries and polos!
He wants to learn to ride on Bear, I cant wait to get him out riding, cos I can ride Gimley while he rides Bear

I will join in with singing OH praises.

The last 2 – 3 years have been pretty pants for me. Mum diagnosed with leukaemia, horse going permanently lame, PND, not being able to have more children, OH taking redundancy, having to give up horses due to OH not working, mum dying, grandad dying. I had been slowly sinking into a huge depression without realising it & have been pretty beastly to my hubby the last 12 months (I see now!).

Luckily I have finally got help & he has been great.

I have apologised to him for the bad time I have given him.

But I am so proud of him yesterday he started at Cambridge University studying for his PGCE so he can become an early years/primary schoolteacher

. A 1-year course then he can look for a new job. This is a completely new direction for him after 18 years in the same job & in his early 40’s it’s not easy going back to “school”.

We are now looking to move next year & get land so we can have horses & he is already talking about building me an arena.

When we had the horses he was a fab groom/skivvy. Would pamper them & play with them as much as I did & even rode a little bit. He was great at competitions keeping me going & cheerful & calming me down. Fab at mucking out & haynets, fetching in etc.
cool.gif

He is great round the house & has always done out ironing. After a year off he can now work the vacuum & the washer!!
shocked.gif
He has done most of the shopping & looking after our lively 2 year old.

Now I am coming out of my “dark place” I can see once again why I married him & what a fabby hubby he is.

My OH IS the best in the world!! OK, I don't have my own horse, but he listens to me every week about my lesson, and he always asks about how Horlicks is, and if I am riding her at the weekend (He actually says "Horlicks" and not "that horse")
He always came down to the yard when I had my last horse, and helped about, and when I done Dressage on Horlicks, he came and helped me plait up, and took to horses VERY well, considering he is not horsey!!

He is helping me with my finances so I can afford my next horse, he makes me see things from a different perspective, he is firm but very fair when he tells me not to be compulsive when it comes to buying those new riding boots, or that new riding hat that I don't really need!!

He spoils me rotten and always makes me feel special!

Most of all he accpects me for me, warts and all!!!

LOVE YOU MR. LIPPYX!!!! xXx :* xXx

Skippydo, I love the sound of your 'holiday at home'. OH and I are having one at the end of October. Part of it for me will be a 'riding holiday at home' - with at least three solid days at the RS, wiht lots of lessons and hacks.

MY OH had his first ever riding lesson a couple of weeks ago. I have nagged him for ages to give it a go. He really enjoyed himself and said 'Now I can see why you love it so much!' He may or may not go again (finances will be tight when he starts a business in January) but it's so cool he had a go and shared my pastime for an hour or so!

my oh is great, he thinks nothing about doing a 12 hour shift plus a hours drive each way then coming home and going to the yard to sort the 4 of them out, even with three kids in tow.

i think i am very lucky as he loves them as much as i do

I do....he helps me out no end with everything incl the horse, he mucks out, grooms her, brings her in puts her out, basically everything, I will miss him when he goes to basic training for 14 weeks....i'm going to be lost!!!

Me to!!

My OH was not horsey at all, but will happily muck out my 3 so i can get on and ride them, he loves tinkering with the lorry and making sure its all ok, for when we are getting ready to go away eventing and has just had new LED lights put on it all round so i now look like a xmas tree going up the road, but he says better safe than sorry - bless him!!
