Who has a dun?

and does it ever get mistaken for a bay? my mare seems to be getting darker and darker every summer! so much so she almost looks bay now!

yeh mine gets a layer of black as her winter coat is coming out then it goes this dark colour! she used to be sooo golden in the summer!

Interesting that you say yours is getting darker every year .. My mare is dun on her passport but is bay in the winter and is getting darker every summer! When I first got her 3 years ago she was a dark dun in the summer now she's bay with dun dapples

oh really, do you have any pics of her, would like to see how dark she is? when i got kelsey 11 yrs ago she was sooo much lighter its only been the last few yrs i've noticed. put a pic on fb today and loads of people have commented on how dark she is! mum didnt even know it was her in the field last week either! craziness!

Does yours still have the darker stripe down her back? or has that blended in with the bay colour?

Not a dun but I have a buckskin which changes colour so much it makes everybody double take when they see her! My farrier who i've had for 3 years still has to double take to check it is her, will get some pictures up when I can get them off my phone

I have 2 Buckskins - I suspect yours is also a Buckskin. Mine look very dark in the winter, bright and golden in the summer.

She had a very faint stripe along her back but it's blended in now

We have a pony on our yard that's roan in the winter and dun in the summer very odd!

They do keep you on your toes with colour don't they?!
I have two - gelding changes from bright orange (orange!!) to very pale yellow, his star also comes and goes... didn't even know that was possible before him, but some years he has a bright white star and some years he doesn't bother with it. One year he turned chocolate dun but that's only happened the once.
Not sure if new lady will change colour yet, we'll see!
