I have a big rice trailer and wondered what car you tow it with? we have a 4x4 mitsubishi 2litre car but i cant help but think that we need a lighter trailer. We towed it approx 1.30mins empty when we bought it and havent used it yet with my mare. Its an older type one (i think) and looks in good condition. Hopefully am having someone come out and give it the once over to make sure its all okay before i use it for my TB and my friends tb next weekend.
My main concern is the floor as it was in a field over winter and i used it to store a few bits in it, ie feed etc. I noticed there was a small leak in the roof and the very front of the trailer was quite wet. What are the chances of it being rotton? and how can you tell? i want to chk it out myself before the trailer maintenance man comes out. I dernt put my girl in it untill i know its 100%. :) thanks

I have a older Rice Europa with a (new) wooden floor - its' weight should be approx 950kg and it can be towed with a car, no problem, so your 4x4 would manage it easily
The Europa's are the lightest of the Rice but they only take 2x16hh; I honestly don't think that you could get anything bigger in them

W e have the rice beaufort which is the biggest hunter box can take two 17hh with ease.Towing wise we have a 2.8 4x4 whicn tows no problem.
With regards to the floor get a screw driver and go round poking the floor you will find any soft spots.Good luck i love my trailer as it really holds the road and the horses love it.

If you can fit two big horses in it then its probably a Beaufort double. Mine is a beaufort and they are solid trailers and heavy too. Mine says on the front that it weights 980kg but in all honesty I think its heavier. The partition alone weights a tonne and I had the floor done with that liquid rubber stuff so the floor is sealed tight. Means I can wash it out without worrying about the floor getting wet everytime.

I used to have a ifor williams on loan and the rice pulls loads better. I pull with a daihatsu Fourtrak and at times I forget it's there.

All i know was i was told its for 2 x 16.2hh horses, its a lovely spacious trailer and its solid! will it say anywhere on it or is there anyway of checking if its a europa or a beauford? they look similar!

Mine has a badge on the rear ramp and one on the front which says rice beaufort double but if your has been painted it may have been taken off. Beauforts are much wider than the europa. Have a look on ebay and compare yours to ones on there and see which yours is.

I have a Beaufort - Love it! - Solid and more stable than Ifor's i think.
I just had a new floor and complete service - 1k later! I think it should be ok for a while!

We tow ours with a half dead discovery (When moving bales - 35 fit easy)
And for the Horse - a small Landy Defender. Either way seems to be fiiiine - Even with my elephant. :)
