Who has bought a new horse?

I have.

I bought a Welsh sec D mare in September.

We are getting on just fine though I am still held back a bit by the loss of my previous horse. It has kind of hindered my bonding with the new one, not because of her but because I am in a bit of a depression.

I horse hunted for about 10 weeks and she was the 7th horse I saw. I knew I was going to buy her even before I met her because I already knew a lot about her.

I think we are going to have a fabulous summer together. :D

Here she is

I have had my horse (ID x TB) also since September, after losing my mare in May I saw quite a lot of donkeys before I found him. His fab and I love him loads already so far, we've done a bit of dressage, lots of hacking, a pleasure ride and been on a riding holiday

My new one came home in September and has been on Box Rest since. He has been out walking and has just started turnout. It's a bit of a cheat as I rode him at work and got to bring him home because he had done a leg. He will be out and about showing In-Hand in the early half of the season and then go out Under Saddle when his leg is 100% up to the job.

Dreamcometrue - your mare looks lovely!! :)

I recently bought a Sec D gelding 7 yo..half-brother to my youngster. Bought him in November but for various reasons haven't been able to bring him home until - TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Since I bought him, I've been visiting him regularly and doing some 'getting to know you' sessions..so looking forward to getting stuck in asap!
So far, I feel like he's been a good buy - because I first met him nearly 18mths ago, fell in love but he wasn't seriously up for sale..so he's my dream boy. But also, he has a super temperament, is really well bred and such a handsome boy...swoon ;)

i got my new mare in october, so far she as been fantastic, she took about 2 months of looking and was probally the 7th i went to look at, also she was the furthest away, i think it was a 4 hour round trip.but well worth it.

I bought a Sec D mare in October. I hadnt been looking... but I found out I was pregnant and there was no way I was able to carry on with my connie gelding, he was too sharp and nappy. So it was turn him away for a year, loan or sell. I decided to sell him but didnt want to stop riding so bought my mare from a friend - I knew the horse and had occasionally ridden her anyway. She is a STAR Im actually still riding and am now 6 months gone. We've been out doing RC dressage, enjoying flatwork lessons and hacking.

I also took a wee mini shetland on loan with view to buy just the other week as my mare needs company and the young Sec A I already have is hopefully going on loan himself as he is too much for me on the ground in my current 'condition'. Typaical toddler welshie;) She is also a wee star so will be staying, she belonged to a friend so also, no hunting required, just kind of happened.

So yeh, lol, I seem to have bought TWO horses in the last few months while Ive been pregnant! Previously Ive travelled days to see a huge number of horses and ended up buying something that didnt work out, more than once! Now I have 2 that fell in my lap and are perfect :D

We've recently brought a 4year old Connie. Well he's for my sister but I will be doing some bits with him.

We didn't look for long a couple of weeks but I knew the second I saw his add that he was the pony for us. Tried him and fell in love with him even more.

He has settled in perfect, Very easy to do and a really loveable chap.

So pleased with how well he is doing and going to have so much fun with him in the future.

Got my new one in december.. section b colt... turns 2 in a few months! My project show pony! I looked for a about week... then had him through word of mouth, best way to find good horses! And he his a superstar really learning well and very very cuddly!:)

I have a new horse on lwvtb-had him 3 months and he's coming along really nicely-15.3 5yo tb gelding and a real sweetheart-such a baby-so teaching him basic flatwork at the moment-can't wait to start jumping him! I hunted for about 10 weeks before i found him-he was the 3rd i saw. I think were a good match so cant wait to actually buy him :)

I bought Tank in November, only been looking for a few weeks, the third horse we viewed. he was a good buy, but I still need to learn to trust him because he is big and bolshy (hence the nickname tank!!)
Two days after we got him...

wow dreamcometrue your mare is lovely! She reminds me of my friends gelding who is also sec d, the marking on her face is almost the same!

some really nice pics posted, I love hearing other peoples stories of how they come about buying them.

Haha sorry anout the new horse thing! should have just put who has bought a horse recently but hey ho!

I bought my gelding in December and still getting to know him, he is a holstiener and about 17hh. He is 7 and a bit spooky but when he jumps forgets about the spooky things! I am waiting for a saddle to be fitted then we are hopefully going to get things going.

I will put a pic up.....

keep putting pics up I love to see what everyones horses look like :)

he looks lovely not like a tank at all!!!:)

Me! 2 weeks ago (he's in my avatar <<--- , still haven't got round to working out photos!)

A good buy so far, a bit greener than I thought - was fooled by his balanced paces in the school but doesn't actually seem to have seen much of life so far although fortunately he's learning incredibly fast and seems to be scarily intelligent so I can see us having some 'interesting' conversations. Am getting excited about what he might be if I can get it right!

I looked for 5 months in the end and lost count of how many I saw but certainly over 25 ... and then found him 20 miles from home

Me i got my new boy at the beginning of November a rising 5yo bay 15.2hh middleweight Gelding called Taio. So far we have hacked out on Dartmoor, boxed over to my friends yard and ridden out in company in the woods, hacked alone and long reigned past artic lorries on country lanes. He has been fully clipped and had his back done and will be starting to work him properly when its light enough after work to do anything.

wow dreamcometrue she is stunning :D Im not usually a big fan of sec Ds :o nothing wrong with them, they just dont appeal to me! but she's a beaut :D. I bought my (now rising 3yo) WB filly around October time from a stud. I picked her out of a field of youngsters then had her in to watch her loose school for the first time ever. She's so far turned out to be an absolute dream :D. She'd never been led, travelled, tied up, rugged etc etc before but has taken to everything like an amazing superstar with no problems - she learns things so quickly but is eager to please. The only thing she does wrong is she saw my TB having a nibble on the field gate - he does it rarely, but unfortunately as she learns so fast she's decided its a great idea! Driving me NUTS! :( but Im sure she will grow out of it with help from bottles and bottles of chew stop! But I really can't complain as for a 'wild' 2 year old (3 in april) she is just incredible.

I can't wait to have a little sit on in summer before turning her away again until she turns 4 :D. She's already had a saddle on to see if it fitted and was totally unbothered

My only 'problem' is she's so big (17hh atm) I can no longer squidge her into the others' 6ft3 rugs so am having to buy 6ft6 and she will doubtless end up in 7ft+ :( poor bank balance BUT shiny new rugs :D.

Oh and she LOVES her snuggyjams :D

Sorry mini rave :p she's just such a delight!.

I agree with above too, pony looks lovely and not at all tank-ish :D

I bought my new youngster only 9days ago after losing my beloved mare of a lifetime in October. She is rising 3 and pretty green but it is early days. When she is relaxed she is very calm and very willing. She is still feeling rather insecure if horses come and go around her at the yard, which shows itself in her pawing (very high action too) her front feet out and hitting things! She is clearly showing her frustration and hopefully this babyish behaviour will subside over the coming months. I was so lucky with my late mare, she was a wonderfully calm 2yr old when we bought her, she was very mature for her 2yrs bless her.

She was better at having her feet picked out tonight, she is scared and tends to not want to lift and kick out with the back feet but tonight was an improvement.
We have a long way to go but she seems to know I am her mummy and she is getting to know and trust me. She just needs lots of work
Here she is the little monkey! Nell

Perhaps ask me again in a few months :D

Me :) Bought Grace at the start of November - unbacked 4yr old traditional heavy weight cob :) She is coming along really nicely hoping to have a fun summer of hacking, some showing and a little dressage.

ME :D
I bought my 3yo at the start of October. Hes an absolute star, Love him to bits :D
I wasnt really looking, I knew I wanted to buy another, and was just looking at what was out there and at what price so I could start looking in the new year.
I went to look at a filly that sounded nice, but wasnt for me. and then I saw his ad, I knew before I met him that Id love him

I got my new lwvtb horse on Saturday! So far he has been an absolute star both on the ground and when ridden. Have only been in the school so far and he needs a bit more schooling than I originally thought but he is so willing and tries his little heart out! I am sooo excited about hacking him on Saturday and am taking him for a lesson at riding club on Sunday all this from a girl who was scared of riding her old horse in the school!

Best thing was I wasn't even really looking as hadn't sold my mare at that point but my YM arranged it all for me and his owners were in no hurry for him to go. Luckily my friend bought my horse as a project and I only had to wait 10 days to get my boy!

Can you tell I am in love :-)

Me! I bought a connie on Sunday. I have been looking on and off for a year since I lost my beloved horse last January. Having travelled all round the country I found one just 15 miles from home.:)

Me too! We bought Dulcie home at the end of September, having spent about 8 weeks looking - she was the 6th horse we saw!

I bought her to fill the gap from my Welshie, who has spavins in her hocks and can't do so much (and is now enjoying an easy life as a super-charged hack!) She is muh bigger and younger than I'd originally planned - she is 16.3 and 5yrs old. I had wanted between 15.2-16.1 and a shoolmaster! But when we tried her she was fab....jumped great, a real confidence giver.

I've been thrilled with her so far...we have our moments, as every new partnership does but generally she's been a sweetie! She is lovely natured and is very honest. She loves work, espeially jumping! i have only had her to one comp, as I had an operation in December and had to have about 6 wks off...but hopefully we can start again soon. Her first comp was an Intro dressage test - where she came 2nd! (would have won if numpty here hadn't lost marks by forgetting one of the movements! lol)

Started jumping lessons again this weekend and she was awesome! Ping ping ping!

I can't wait til Spring so we can get out about and have LOTS of fun - booked to go to Horse Camp in April and I am soooo excited!
