And what do you do?

I'm getting very fed up and depressed about not having my own transport now. I used to share a lorry with my friend and paid half of the tax, insurance etc but we both moved yards and now I can't use it, well I allegedly can use it but every time I ask it's either being used or something is wrong with it.
I have a decent horse that is going well and I'd quite like to take him to some competitons! I'd like to affiliate him to with BD but what's the point if I can't take him anywhere?

Sorry, rant over!

I don't but can usually borrow or hire a trailer from somewhere. Can't you hire a trailer for transport ? If you search the net there are plenty of transport people advertised with trailers etc who will take you to shows. Would love to get my own trailer but can't afford at the min.

I have a friends trailer that I can borrow but I don't have anything to tow it with

Our YO has a 4x4 and trailer but is restricted on when and where he will go as he has a yard to run etc.

I know exactly how you feel... its a nightmare not having your own transport.
its such a hassle arranging to share a lift finding a day you can both do, etc. and hiring a lorry is very expensive. and i dont have a vehicle to tow a trailer so thats down the drain.

very depressing,

I dont, it is a nightmare as I cant do what I want when I would like. I dont ask much and I would book a wagon but it would cost a bomb just for me as people on my yard are so unreliable.
I cant wait untill my mum and dad get a car that can pull a trailer or convert a box, not sure what they are going to do yet.

i`ve got a trailer but nothing to pull it with myself at present.

trouble is,horsey `forgets` how to use it.

I don't either, luckily we have 2 that we can use which is great but nothing like having your own. The annoying thing is there are ones on our yard that just don't really get used and it's like ahhhhh do you not realise how lucky you are!!

i'm looking for a trailer at the mo we sold our litle loory last year. an now hiring a trailr when we need one till we find one. its driving me mad now as we have to use a trailer to move the boys and youngsters to dirrerent grazing

I'm looking for a lorry at present, because I have figured out that it would be MILES cheaper to run than hiring every other week, and much easier as it would mean i could just "get up and go" as the mood takes me. My car is a Ford Focus so couldn't tow much more than a very small camping trailer and given the mileage I do in it, I am NOT prepared to trade it in for something more gas-guzzly !

You dont need a 4x4 to tow a trailer! I have a passett estate and it was voted what car best towing car. Im having a lorry built atm (nearly done) and so i bought a trailer to use while its being done. I tow 2 big horses in a ifor williams easily! Sam if im not doing anything I can always give you a lift if you pay my fuel. But we are out and about that the only problem and new lorry is for 2 not 3.

Oh I know how you feel. I am in the same position. At my yard there are trailers sitting there that haven't moved since I moved there (6 months ago) its so frustrating. I have a small car but am now going to get a second car-a 4 x 4 just for towing, as I can borrow a trailer. I can't stand not being able to get out and about.

Thank you, I might just take you up on that! I only really want to go to GX or somewhere local to do some dressage.

I haven't got transport either. I am looking for a pickup so I can use it for my business (I'm a plumber) as well as towing my horse, though I'd have to hire a trailer. What gets me is that all the second hand pickups seem to have VAT added which I'm not prepared to pay, so I will have to think again.
