Just wondering who is on a livery yard in the Buckinghamshire / Berkshire area?

I have definitely noticed that over the last year or two the cost of livery has shot up, and it is impossible to find simple DIY stable with turnout for less than £35pw.

If you are on a livery yard in this area, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much do you pay and what do you get for your money?

Thanks :)

I'm this area and know many yards in the area.
There are very few for less than £35 a week - and those that are have significant compromises to make.

Any well fenced, well maintained yard, with a half reasonable school, and all year turnout will be £35 a week with no hay/bedding included - with the cost rising according to facilities and location

I'm in Bucks and pay 45 a week for DIY. This is my stable and field and for my trailer to be kept in the lorry park. I can have as much or little turnout as I like as each horse has its own paddock.
I buy my own bedding, feed and use the farms haylage which is added to my bill.

I don't mind paying this at all as The family live on the yard and the yard manager lives onsite too. We are very lucky as we have cross country fields and a large rubber and sand manege and horse walker.
Livery services are added or removed as you please. Think I have a fairly good deal compared to some of the prices in the area.

Yes I understand that you get what you pay for, however, it does seem like some yards in my area are just upping their costs because others have, rather than because they need to because of their overheads or that they have improved their facilities.

Me. At a small competition livery yard in Berkshire, with 9 stables, 5 acres of turnout, and a track for additional turnout. Really fantastic school (Martin Collins Clopf) and miles of off-road hacking. I pay £45 per week for stable and turnout.

Our yard has stopped taking DIY - the closest you get is assisted livery - where everything is provided (stable, turnout, bedding, feed and hay) and you muck out. I think it is around £350 per month. We have reasonable facilities, the fields are OK, fencing OK, arena OK (is apparently being made bigger this summer) but the thing that sells it is the hacking - we are 10 mins off road hack from Windsor Great Park - and all the liveries in the yard get on well with no bitching.

Me too - right on the Berks / Bucks border (it goes through the fields). I pay £35 / week for stable and turnout, nice private yard with only 8 horses (currently 5) and about 30 acres, with a good school. I'm considering moving to a yard nearby with 5-day livery, which is £80/week, with similar facilities.

I'm in Bucks and pay £25 a week for stable and grazing. I buy hay off the YO as its just easier. They do assisted livery as well if you need it!

The annoying things are lack of easy to reach hacking. We do have newly aquired fields at the back of the yard to pop round but it doesnt take long and is a bit boring! Outdoor school which is ok.

Frustrating thing is the one rule for one and one rule for another. We cant help each other out with turn out or bringing in or mucking out  ... they say its for insurance reasons which is b*llox, its about paying for the assisted livery but they just dont have the b*lls to say it!

Other than that very happy (Just need to find a new horse now)
