Hi All,

I am paying £90pw for everything excluding exercise.

We have XC, walker, big floodlit arena, american barn boxes, loads of turnout and shows on site, a shared lorry and hacking to die for. The yard is small (15max) so all of them get treated very well and my horse is particularly settled to the point of dopey! (for a Master Imp 6yo this is fabulous!)

I guess what I am asking is for prices and whether I am paying a fair price as I have only ever been on DIY in the past. I do love the yard and the folks up there I just think with the commute etc. things will be tight financially :(

I pay £87 a week to include everything barring exercise and grooming, although feet being picked out is included. My yard is lovely, owner takes care of all of them like they're her own, despite there being about 30 of us and my horses are both totally settled and happy there. I think £90 a week is a fair price, and probably what mine will go up to next year ;)

wowsa 90 per week! thats fantastic! Im South East aswell, very close to London and mine is significantly more expensive than that for full livery excluding exercising and grooming. Yard I was at previously was DIY and my bill worked out at about 80 pounds a week for stable rent, hay/straw and turn out and bringing in 5 days a week. Have a feeling you will get lots of PM's asking about your yard!

Mine is £114/week (£495/month), also south east.
You have found a good deal!
Mine includes:
  • horse walker
  • 63x35 arena with floodlights, mirrors and a good surface (harrowed daily)
  • Grooming
  • Turn out / bring in / pick out feet / rug changes
  • Excellent quality haylage
  • Hard feed
  • Shavings, rubber matting
  • Wormers
  • Stable 12x12, it is an outdoor stable
  • Secure alarmed tack room
  • Excellent hacking, no roads, you can go for miles
  • Lovely natural fields for grazing - horses are out from 7am-3pm
  • Lovely location
  • Cross country course on site
  • Occasional shows held - cross country / dressage /jumping

What is not included:
  • Exercise
  • Supplements
  • No hot water or solarium
  • No kitchen / no where to make a cuppa
  • No rug storage room / space
  • No automatic drinkers, water is given in tub trugs

*space is tight, and there isn't much room to keep your things there...most things have to be kept at home.

I will pay £40 pw.

This includes:
Hay
Use of school/jumps
Pretty good hacking
A stable/all year round turnout
There is an XC course, but no one really uses it :(
They can be exercised, but it will be with a lesson/ride out. YO will ask in advance or call on the day. Or you can either say right out yes/no.

Only things not included is shoes/jabs.

I don't have horsey yet, but that's what they offer.

That's incredibly reasonable! I pay £70 pw for everything done during the week and DIY at weekends. I buy my own feed and supplements. Yard is fab, cannot rate the YO highly enough :)

I'm on part livery and it's £40 a week. That includes:

ad lib hay/haylage
12x12 stable in an American barn
use of school (great surface)
use of tools
alarmed tack room
rug storage/personal storage
giving a feed I've made
Putting up a haynet I've made if needed

during the week:

turnout by 9 (1 rug change)
bring in at 5 in autumn/spring (or 3 in winter - turnout 24/7 in summer)

It's a really great yard and round here we are very very limited as to livery options - I'm very happy with the deal, especially as YO is kind and knowledgeable, and people there seem lovely! I was quoted £65-£70 for the same as this but without hay/haylage twice, which is a lot imho.

I would say that was really good.

I Pay £83 per week on Part Working Livery. My horse is used only for 2 lessons a week.

Included is:

2 Outdoor Schools and 1 Indoor School
XC Course
Miles of off Road Hacking
Large stable
Hay
Feed
Bedding
Turnout/Bring In
A livery lesson

Is a busy big yard and currently having competition stables built with a wash box and vet box, which we will all be able to use.

Really good yard and its Beds/Bucks Border.

I pay £125 + vat pw for full schooling livery. Midlands so far from cheap, but I get a lot. Feel I should point out that I'd rather be in DIY, but my health just isn't up to it.

All feed, supplement based on forage analysis
Worming
Individual grazing, turn in and out
Big indoor stables - 15' I think
Indoor school, round pen, horse walker
60 acres private hacking + gallops
Muck out + hemp bedding/rubber matting
Tack up for riding if I want
6 days - schooling, ridden out or accompanied hacking for me
Posh yard kitchen/lounge with sky tv and coffee maker, bathroom with power shower
Staff live above stables, owner on site, very secure tack room
Being present for shoeing and vet (which I pay for)
Firm boundaries
Being scraped off the ground and taken to A&E
Advice and light ribbing
Stallion to flirt with (horse not me, although he does have a nice soft nose for me to rub)
Most importantly: all staff love horses

I pay £80 pw inc:

Mon - Fri
Full Muck Out, Walker , T/O, Bring In, Skip out, rugs sorted, feeding and any 1st aid.

Sat, Sun
DIY

All inc hard feed, hay/haylage, bedding

I would say £90 pw is reasonable.

I'm moving from DIY to part livery tomorrow. Never done the livery thing before so a bit unsure about it but hopefully it will be great. I sat down and worked out for what I pay for DIY, hay, bedding etc and petrol twice a day it’s actually not going to cost me any more for livery. I'll be able to reduce how often I go down and spent my time riding the actual horse!

Where I'm going is £60pw which includes turnout / bring in, muck out and all feed and bedding 7 days a week. The yard also has an indoor school, three outdoors, horse walker, lunge pen, solarium, gallop track and a few cross country jumps. Hacking not brilliant but fair for my area. It also holds weekly dressage comps. A couple of draw backs, first is you have to pay to use a school if you want exclusive use and secondly during the worst of the winter weather they get turnout on a large hardcore area. They will have adlib hay though and be out all day.

Looking forward to lazy weekends!

Currently £377 a month all hay/ bedding etc included

1 30 x 70 indoor school
1 20 x 40 indoor school
2 x outdoor schools

Quite busy yard with lots of lesson & comps etc

With to full time dressage riders based there

Moving on Sunday back to old yard ( was only at other one for 5 month for help from one of the dressage riders)

£390 including hay
Bedding £6 bag of wood pellets so around extra £35 a month

Massive indoor
Full size mirrored outdoor dressage school
Jumping paddock

And only about 15 liveries to share it all with

Stable rent and feeding in the morning is £21 p/w
Turning out is £1 per day
Hay is £9 p/w
Straw is 3.50 a bale
Y/O will look after a horse for £6 a day and ride for £10 for 45 minuites.

So I can mix and match what I need exactly :)
