Who is still buying Kingsland?

I recently wrote to Harry Hall expressing my disappointment that they were still stocking Kingsland, despite it being 51% owned by the abhorrent Helgstrand.

I got the usual fob off reply. I've not bought from HH since, and will seriously consider my options once my One Club insurance is up for renewal.

But it really got me thinking about how many people still buy Kingsland? It would make my skin crawl to think the clothes I was wearing in any way financially supported or by inference, condoned, that sort of systemic cruelty and abuse.

I had no idea Kingsland was in the hands of GEG but it's not Helgstrand personally as along with Ludger Beerbaum and Patrick Kittel he has a minority shareholding in GEG with the majority held by private equity.
I don't own anything Kingsland.

GEG sold Chronicle of the Horse in Sept this year so that can be read again!

Kingsland quality is lousy for the money, so I wouldn't buy it anyway. But I had no idea who had investments in the company. No idea about Thunderbrooks either.

Good info to have, thank you Cagrat! I don't know the brand anyway tbh but knowledge is power and spending money is power too.
How do you do that? Genuine question, I cant support anyone who behaves the way either of those did.
I personally also avoid Thunderbrooks. A few friends use them and unfortunately the museli and the haycobs seem very nice 😂 There are alternatives tho and tbh they're too expensive anyway for the addition of some herbs and the odd cranberry to make me regret a lukewarm ethical stance lol

I don't buy from them anyway as I think it looks like cheap sh!te but I didn't know it was owned by the devil himself.
What other brands does he have involvement in?
"Our Brands - Global Equestrian Group" https://career.globalequestriangroup.com/departments

Basically, the shining lights of ethical equestrianism (NOT) Kittel and Beerbaum, and the Florida SJ venue Wellington International. Coincidentally it was US SJ who put forward the recent blood rule ammendment.

Andreas Helgstrand is the CEO of the parent company Global Equestrian Group and also of Helgstrand Dressage.

GEG sold Wellington in Florida last year.
Helgstrand is still a billionaire so doesn't need our money or our support after the exposure of his unhorsemanship.

I didn't know anything about it. I have a nice Kingsland hoodie which I got in a sale last year, £24 down from £85 or something. I'll need to do some research.

I got this nice looking hoodie from KL some years back.

Shrunk terribly after one wash.

Certainly won't buy from them again though, now knowing this.

I still use Thunderbrooks. I'd rather not but pony is v.v fussy and TB muesli is the only thing I can get him to take his medication in.

It's complicated by the fact he absolutely cannot have so much of a whiff of alfalfa and he needs a v. low sugar/starch diet.

He's mainly powered by Simple Systems which I feel much better about!

I had no idea!
I did have a Kingsland jacket and to be honest it was a favourite for many years. It’s dead and thrown now though and replaced by better.
I don’t really buy anything from HH either though as I just think it’s a bit crappy.
Their sales are always the same stuff/ same prices, cancelling my One club was a nightmare. I eventually cancelled my bank card instead!
They just annoy me
