From these four stallions, who is best to use for refinement, and general quality improvement?

Dionysos http://www.tantoni.co.uk/Stallions/Dionysos/tabid/6980/Default.aspx

Gribaldi

Kostolany

Polansky

I know the last 3 are same line, but interested in them as individuals. dont need alternatives, as i am specificlly researching the above horses. Many Thanks.

My personal favourite would be Gribalidi and then Kostolany if course as, as you have said he is the sire of both Gribaldi and Polansky. For good examples of Gribaldi stock you only have to look at the likes of Painted Black and Hofrat, or even Grafham stud's GORGEOUS young eventing stallion Wish Upon a Star

Kostolany is a serious legend. His ofspring have not only included dressage performers like Gribaldi, but also eventers and show jumpers too. Have to say I adore this sire line. There are other Trakehner lines that might add more refinement, but depends a lot on what sort of mare you are talking about. They wont refine a TB mare for example but would very well on a more old fashioned stamp of mare. In terms of Trakehner type, Kostolany and Gribaldi would be of the larger stamp

Don't really know much about them, except my friend has a Polansky 5 year old over here.

He came over as a stallion, but had to be cut as he was much too sharp, now some 10 months later he is still just as sharp. He can seriously move though as long as his brain is in gear!!!!!!!!

He is a refined horse, who stands about 16hh, she sent him back to Holland for some training and they also commented on how sharp he was. He is a horse who is very sound stimulated, which makes competitions interesting!!!

Only actually seen footage of Gribaldi, His was in my top 10 stallions to use for this stud season but stud fee + import + tax sent his fee over my budget, I also wanted to breed british if I had the chance. His offspring are also doing well. I haven't heard much of the others and haven't seen any of them in action but I like the set of Kostalany.
