The girls in the office are putting bets on tomorrow for the Gold Cup, plus I am going!
So who is your money on? I am not very good at racing LOL

Someone give me some good ones!!!

The listener likes soft ground and it will probably be good by tomorrow. Kauto star is such a short price that unless you've got serious money to put on it's not really worth it imo. Exotic dancer might be worth a quid or two...

could be even shorter by tomorrow but he will like the ground. His jumping a bit suspect when he's under pressure and it's further than he's run over with that hill. Hope he does it though being a local lad and all!

According to teletext, The Listener might not run because the ground has dried up too much. L'ami ran Kauto star close last time so might be worth an e/w bet.

Would love to see Beef or Salmon win, as he has had such crap luck racing on the mainland.

Don't fancy Kauto Star as he's a bit of a sloppy jumper at times, but if he stays upright, he obviously has a chance.

Might be tempted to have an e/w bet on L'ami, as he gave Kauto Star a good run for his money last time out.

But, all that said, I've only picked one winner this week, and that was Denman, who was a pretty safe bet anyway, so perhaps best not to take any notice of me.

PS: Don't put any money on The listener just yet, as, if the ground stays as it is or gets dryer, he'll be withdrawn from the race. I think connections will make a final decision tomorrow morning.

Yer B or S never runs well over here!
Do't think he will wi tomorrow either but he may run well this year lol!
As long as KS stays up I think he will win!
Want Tony McCoy to have a winner sometime though can't believe his luck, well chief and black jack ketchum falling and straw bear pulling up!

Still deliberating to be honest lol. But Kauto is too short for each way money as you need at least 4/1 at a quarter the odds a place ( 1, 2, 3) which this race is, to get your stake back. Exotic Dancer should not be out of the frame to be honest on form shown this season but I still doubt him winning though as for me personally I think he has had a few hard races despite what other people may think.
The listener no chance unless it rains overnight significantly. I backed him two runs ago a fiver win when he won at pretty good odds to be honest. Had Alner's Cool Dawn a few years back and he is a really nice guy ( have interviewed him a few times, he and Hobbs and Nicholls are very straight talking people so take note of whatever they say about their chances as they are not the people to pull the wool over your eyes).
Beef or Salmon, I'm sorry but I have had him the past for this race and although he seems in the form of his life this season he has endured either no luck or has run poor at Cheltenham and I won't be drawn into the sympathy vote and thinking he might just do it this time lol.
State of play is a good horse don't get me wrong but from my own personal memory of results and statistics I cannot recall many if any? former hennessey ( Newbury) winners winning the gold cup, especially in the same season. He also requires plenty of cut in the ground as well.
To be honest I fancy Monkehostin as a little sporting ew bet as judging by a recent video interview I watched of the hobbs yard he looked more settled and a different horse to the edgy horse ( let's get on with it I can't stand still kind of horse) that he seemed to be during a session of filming with a work rider aboard a couple of years ago( may have been last year cannot remember now lol)
This horse ran a personal best in the king george in 2005 failing by 1/4 of a length to get to Kicking King at the line. He had a busy campaign that season and has maybe needed time to bounce back a little. Apparently he was not right at xmas this season when chasing home Kauto in the king George ( has had muscle problems). He was the ante post fave for the gold cup most of last season. He made errors in last year's race and finished 6th in the end. Is supposed to thrive on racing however it is worth remembering that he had had five races last season before the gold cup even though he is going into tomorrow's race after the same break as last year ( not run since King George) but has only ran twice this season and not knocked about. He is fresher than most going into the race who have been slogging around in the mud this winter and has a chance and is well worth an ew at fancy odds and the mainly 33/1 on offer is too big in my opinion for a horse that was sent off at 13/2 last year.
I do really like Kauto Star though and have been very impressed with him from the beginning of his career. My two concerns though are jumping and the trip. He has put in two howlers in two races this season with both coming at the end of the race which does concern me slightly as 3m 2 1/2 furlongs up that Cheltenham hill takes some getting. Whether Kauto was getting slightly tired in his races or not thinking we will only find out tomorrow. He does look like he will stay though and a strong case must be made for him seeing out the distance as former winners, Best Mate, Kicking King and War of Attrittion in recent years all handled the step up perfectly well.
I may back him to win but have already done Monkerhostin ew so I will see lol.
But yes he is a worthy favourite as he has all the ticks in the right boxes except for the slight question mark on those two mistakes he has made this season.
I also backed this horse in last year's Queen Mother to win and he fell in that race so it is understandable I have a few jitters about taking a short price on him again.

Its a race full of speculation.
It could turn out that Kauto Star could be the best we have ever seen, I certainly think so. Personally, I think he will stay up the hill, and Ruby will have no chance but to bang him into the last few - that'll make him concentrate all right. The only question is why was L'ami so close last time - perhaps KS is not quite right and his drifting and parting of the birch is a sign of this? I still maintain he would be a certainty with AP on board.
L'Ami is definetly booked to be thereabouts. So too Beef Or Salmon, and probably The Listener. I will be routing for Beef Or Salmon, no horse deserves it more, but there is no way he should have beaten The Listener last time and that leaves the form in some doubt.
There is one fast improving horse in the field, State Of Play. Was impressive when winning the Henessy with a heavy weight. I would put money on him to improve again, If Kauto Star stands up it will be SOP pushing him at the bottom of the hill to try and expose his stamina limitations (if there are any).
