I do, it doesnt work mind, the troughs seem no cleaner.. but they're there now!

I do not think its fair on the fish and it wont make any difference to the algae as fish do not eat algae.

The fish eat the insect that fall in and the mossie larvae...........Still think you have to be mad to have fish in your trough.............***Whispers*** MQ has fish in her trough............says it all really!!!!

Would my goldfish be happier in the 8ft trough they currently live in or the 8'' bowl that they came in when my son was given them as a present?

I would be more worried that the horse might suck the fish up!! - but then everyone loves sushi and imagine the amount you would save on Omega 3 supplements!!!

I think they would prefer an appropriately sized pond with pond weed and shelter from the sun and somewhere to escape the winter frosts rather than a metal box and a fear of being eaten.

my trough isn't metal
they have stones in it, and a lip to hide under....
All fish have a fear of being eaten.

Nah...... they dont remember what 'was' going to eat them.... lets face it, better to be in fear of being eaten in an otherwise empty tank...... than actually be eaten in a pond, river, or the sea (obviously not goldies)

I tried keeping goldfish in a trough once but my dog eventually killed them all.

The trough didn't stay any cleaner.

Do you feed your trough fish then? I did. Maybe that was where I went wrong

I dont feed them and they look very healthy..but I still have to clean out the troughs!

Ditto this! I have three - the water is no cleaner, but no dirtier either, and the fish seem fat and happy!
