Me. They can see much better than we can at night and I know plenty of horses who keep their fly masks on at night and have never run into any trouble because of it. A horse I used to look after only had one eye and the vet told us to leave his mask on all night and all day all year round to protect his other eye and he never had any problems with it. If a horse with one eye can manage like it and it is recommended by the vet I'm sure it's fine!
yep, I leave my horse with their masks on at night too as the flies are worst during the early evening and early morning. They seem fine and dont seem to mind.
Pharaoh's eye condition means he usually has to have it on most of the time including when being ridden, the only time it is off is when he is in his stable (unless his eye has flared up). When i buy fly masks i look through them myself to make sure he can see out of it and had no problems yet
I have had to, my horse is a fly magnet and had a huge bite on her face which she then rubbed sore. I found her with about 20 revolting flies attacting the sore bit, eww!
My horse is out at night, and the yard she is now living at is particularly bad for flies so she has her hat on overnight. Actually, if she were at any yard out overnight she would have it on. Never had any problems *touch wood*
I do - horse has mild sweet-itch and midges are at their worst at dawn and dusk. He copes fine - at least, no overnight bumps or scratches yet after two summers of the mask!
