My sister and I are out at school/uni/work from around 8-3/4 during the day. Our 6 month old puppy is at home during this time with our dad, who is in a wheelchair, so our puppy is let out for the toilet, but not generally played with.
Do you think our puppy needs someone to play with her during the day? We play with her in the evening and she goes out for about 20mins when feeding the horses in the morning and about an hour when we ride etc. when we get home, but she does run around all the time when outside.
Sorry if this may seem a bit pointless! I just want to know we are doing the right thing! This is the first puppy we've had on our own!

I wouldnt worry too much - your puppy sounds as if she gets lots of attention when you and your sister are around, so she will be fine

If your dad is at home during the day then he will be company for her, even if he doesnt play with her a lot

My two are older dogs (rescues) but they are very happy with their routine - they sleep all day whilst I am at work, then a quick burst of energy when I come home and take them out, then they sleep all evening/night

When I had my terriers they were left from 8am - 5pm, I did pop home for lunch and walk them, but first of all I had the one, and then realised another would be good company and so got him a companion, and 2 are easier than having 1 I think they entertain eachother, and it saves you having to do it, I would recommend having 2 pups together of the same age, I have 2 lab pups 5months at the mo and god its hard, with my previous terriers, I got my second one when he was a yr old, it worked well for me.

I do but mine is a lot older. Still, someone is home with your pup and if she can go out and have company she should be fine. Just make sure your dad can cope, she might need a proper long walk in the morning once she is grown, or she will pester the life out of him

We have two lab sisters just turned one and its been one of the hardest years of my life !!!! Last time our GSD was a year old before we got our lab pup who is now 11 and it was so much easier. Would never have just one but bloody hell why didn't someone warn me about two the same age and two from the same litter. PHEW !!!!

Our old Lab stays in during the day, the destructive terrors now have an outside kennel and run. We have a dog walker goes in for an hour midday but other than that they're on their own and although I feel guilty they are fine.
