who likes clipping??

Sorry, you are def odd!!!
Who could like finding bits of hair in places you didn't even know exist, not to mention eating/breathing hair until you can get home for a shower. Then, just to cheek you, they only go and bloomin' grow it back again!! Don't like it (incase you didn't guess!).

Me me I love it, I can't wait but am going to until after my hols 1st week of Oct, will do him when I get back, but I really want to do him now lol

i HATE it. getting hair in your mouth and all over your hands so you cant wipe your face and urgh its horrid. i dread it when i have to clip my lot lol.

NOISYGIRL - I know what you mean!! I am dying to do mine now!!! But I'm going to have to wait and pace myself or I get clipper happy and end up giving a full clip :o

Jackson - It does give you a powerful type of feeling, it makes me feel good, I like spending ages getting it all smooth no tram lines or tufts :o

Glad to know I'm not on my own here! Does anyone mess about with stencils and get creative? Last year I did stars on Jets bum but this year I'm thinking of getting a little creative on my own :D:D:D

I absolutely HATE clipping, if my horse wasn't such an eejit to clip I would far rather pay someone else to clip him but I don't want to put anyone else at risk!

It's definitely my least favourite horsey job.

I did my first clip last year, pony was HEAVILY sedated (for both our safety!). By the end he looked like he had been run over by a tram - hundred's of times! This year i'm hoping to find someone who will do a better job for a price! x

I don't clip - I wouldn't subject Kal to that . . . I pay someone else to do the job ;). The good news is that he doesn't grow much of a coat so we can generally get away with just one clip a winter. Oh, and he seems to lose his winter coat pretty much overnight . . . one good session with the mini shedding blade and it's gone (although I end up smothered in little white hairs).

P

anyone in glasgow want to teach me? :p
jerry's never been clipped - ever - but I'm thinking I might have to this year considering his winter coats coming through already :(

should be interesting

PolarSkye - i'm so jealous! Mine are almost have a inch long coat already :-( shetland was still molting in july so he's definitely getting done too!

My Dalesx is getting like that now! Especially with the weather this week I'm expecting her to be a black polar bear! XD Sometimes I wish I had something with a fine coat, even my PBA gets like a mamouth

Those that love clipping have never been in the position whereby you switch your clippers on at 7 a.m.and turn them off at 6 p.m.!!!!

I love doing the 'bad' horses but generally hate the job. Novelty for me wore off years ago.

oh, I have! but I find it a really satisfying job, and love tidying up hunters from scruffy oiks into smartypants!

I love the difficult ones, the horses that are certain they are too frightened to be clipped. I offer clients the option of clipping a horse for free if I have to resort to sedation. I've never yet not been paid.

I love it - despite having clipped approx 4 horse a week every winter for the last God knows how many years. I'm not a massive fan of stencils -but I'm completely neurotic about perfect lines that follow the musculature and clipping cleverly to minimise conformational or muscular faults. Can't bear legs lines in the wrong places, or tail triangles that go off the side, or are too long/short. I also trim all the lines when I'm finished.OCD? Moi? Definitely!

I have even used trimming scissors on one occasion to remove hair from the left ear of an event horse who tolerated a full top to toe deforestation - then objected violently to the one remaining ear. The owner didn't care about having one unclipped ear, but I couldn't bear to look at it!

Always feel guilty for clipping off his lovely winter coat which he has grown for himself :(, plus I always have the problem of making sure I make as good a job of it as last year :D, without any practice since last winter :p

Some asked me last year if I used a spirit level, not quite :D

I love clipping well behaved horses! My old boy was fab to clip and always looked so handsome afterwards.
Don't know what what newbie will be like though.

Quick question, how do I find someone who would be willing to clip for cash? Sorry OP, just wondering if there's a easy way of finding out x

Not a problem!

Have you tried in your local tack shop? Mine normally have a book with people advertising their services. Or maybe just ask around I'm sure someone would be willing to do it :)
