Just curious really, I took my ipod with me the other night and I found having the music really helped me to concentrate!! Did have to shove it down my jods though as no where else to put it lol!
Me too! I have the concentration span of a goldfish (and that's probably doing the goldfish a disservice!
) and I find I stay in the school much longer when I have my ipod to listen/sing along to. (I only sing when I have solo use of the school, the others haven't done anything to deserve listening to me howl along to my cheesy choons!
I'm afraid I can't help you with the technical side of it, I just use it to keep me in the school longer than 15mins before I go "stuff it, let's hack" or "that feels long enough now"!
I guess it probably subconsiously helps with rythymn if you were to find suitable music, but I just stick on whatever my favourite album of the moment is. Recently that's been Will Young, Rhianna and Avril Lavigne!
I just found I was a lot more relaxed and consistent, then schooled a couple of nights later without and we didn't get along nearly as well (but that may have had something to do with a couple of cows sticking their heads through the school fence
I do to - plug whatever MP3 player into my ears and happily trot round. I find i'm more dedicated to what I'm practicing, find a stronger better rhythm, and everything becomes a whole lot more fluid. I listen to pretty chilled out stuff normally but to be honest it doesn't really seem to matter - it all has the same effects. When I teach I try and get the people I'm teaching to think of their favorite song and sing it in their heads - if I'm feeling really mean I make them sing it aloud
We have a full music system in the indoor school, I have to admit I don't use it lots as it almost distracts me, although it does seem to perk Pickle up a bit. We have HUGE speakers, DJ deck the lot

My mare is quite spooky sometimes and I do find that when riding along I will think "she will spook at that noise" or "she will spook at that bag" and she will do that. With music in I just find that I concentrate on her way of going rather than if she is going to spook, therefore ignoring the spooking which in return nearly erradicates it if you get me?
i do. schooling/jumping/hacking in fields (not on road obviously!!!)
have done since i was about 13!!! i also find it helps the horse go better as i am less intense on what i am trying to achieve and so they respond better.
i do it i love it i only wish i could have a permanent soundtrack to life. i found it really helped jumping my horse when i was having trouble with him cos instead of thinking about him stopping i just listened to the music and i also find it can rev you up or calm you down whatever you need at the time. we've got an old racetrack on a beacon near us and i have in the past been known to have a nice canter round it with black beauty playing on my mp3
or airwolf thats a good one too
. schooling i normally like something with a good beat to ride to and i find it alot easier to do half pass and all that dressagey nonsense
