Ive been doing agilty training with my little dog, he is a Bichon x cav he is just over 18 months and after a shaky start is turning into a star and he loves it, yesterday while at Belton i popped him round the agilty course there to see if he could do it with lots of distractions and somewhere different and he was a star (I have a vid but it wont upload) but this might work

So Im going to register him with the KC (I think I need to do this) Im going to try and register him as either Buzzy Bear or Opposition Buz, he is called Buster. Then attempt to do some Anysize, as he hasnt picked up the weaves without straps yet and he hates the flat tunnel.

Ive been on agilitynet, how do I know which shows you need to be KC registered for???

I will speak to my instructor thursday but I want to get organised!!

The are also UKA shows. www.ukagility.co.uk

I have started Harley off with Steeplechase courses which are just jumps and tunnels to build his confidence (sensitive chap). With UKA they also do Nursery Agility courses which is a full course without the seesaw/weave poles/collapsble tunnel/tyre. But we are having a go at a full course at our next show :)

UKA shows are really friendly. Everyone at my club does them which is why I joined (very cheap!). But I am going to look into KC at some point as they do ABC classes (anything but collie)

(vid link just took me to fb)

It will say on the schedules if you need to be registered or not. I think UKA and the other independents have their own registration systems as well. Remember that for KC as well as being on the activity register he will need to be officially measured before he can compete - for a small/medium dog this may mean multiple measures within a certain time period.

Have a look on the agilitynet schedules for local unaffiliated shows as they generally don't require pre-registration and usually have anysize/elementary type classes with no weaves, seesaw etc. and many do two runs over each course with the best run counting towards prizes, allow toys in the ring if NFC etc. :)

I think UKA and the other independents have their own registration systems as well.

You do have to register for UKA. £5 for handler for 5 years and £6 for lifetime dog membership!! Bargain! (So much cheaper than me and my horse for BD lol!) The classes are only £3.05 too!!

Try the dog vagas shows. The ones held at arena uk are not KC so he will not need to be registered. They have grade 0 classes which don't have weaves and you can take a toy in the ring. V friendly shows
