Hiya :) I just realised this is my first post (I made an account but forgot the details!) My name is Sarah :)

I've just got my boy back after he's been on full loan for three years, while I was working away from home. Now I have him back I'm trying to fit in as much riding as possible and struggling a bit! So my idea is to try riding before work.

Luckily I don't start work until half 9, and the yard is on my journey in (yep I work all day after mucking out and probably smell like a farm, I obviously get changed though!). If i got to the yard for half 7 I could fit a good hack in a few mornings a week. My jobs take about 35 mins, I need 25 mins to get changed and get to work, that leaves an hour to tack up and ride?

I'm still getting used to everything at the yard and hacking and would want to know a few routes before venturing out in the morning alone, but me and pony love hacking alone, and the thought of early morning rides sound like real fun :)

So how many of you ride in the morning during winter?

I have flexible working and try to ride twice a week before work in the winter, hacking for about an hour. I can start work as late as 10am but I try to start earlier otherwise have to work too late. Ice can be a problem first thing though.

I dont ride before work now its pitch dark, but am finished & home by 7am; having mucked out 2 & done all that is needed for the evening to pop them in again - and have lunged 1 for 15/20 mins.

In the late spring & summer, its lovely out riding when the sun comes up tho and am out on board before 6 then :)

Yes I do!
Work two different shifts and the later one I start at half nine. At the moment try to get there by seven and quick tack up no messing and get out there.
It's so dark at the moment so ride into the light, the colder days are better for this and this morning the sun rise was amazing!
Once I've ridden put her in whilst I do the rest hay water etc, she goes out around half eight.
leave for work at 8.45 as takes 45 min drive, work with horses so don't get changed though!

I do too. I work from home three days a week. I start work at 9am and yard is 7 mins drive from home.

I arrive at yard at 6.30 am and do all my jobs before riding. I hack or do a schooling session. I get home for 9am and have breakfast at my desk in my jods. Working from home is great :)

I'm in the office the other two days and I'm home by 7.30am to get ready for the office so no riding these days.

I have done in the past, but then I was single, employed (started work at 9am) and my horse was in at night - now I'm married, more of a fair weather rider, self employed with earlier starts and my horses all live out it just wouldn't work! I did always find that an early morning ride meant a very flat spot at about 3pm when I really needed a snooze on my desk - not great for boss/staff relations!
