I went out early, as not ridden mine properly for a while now, and wanted a good old fashioned long ride, so got up early and off we went...came back about 3 o clock! :)

Had a lovely ride, was frosty and a bit icy at the start of our ride, but by late morning, all had cleared up and the going was lovely round the fields.

Even found some old XC/hunt fences which we had a pop over a few times... :)

Not an 'exciting' ride by any means...spent the most just plodding round on the buckle with my music on. And let her have a half hour break having a good graze and drink. So ponio didn't have a bad day either!

Then had a nice bareback ride back out to her field.

Where did you ride today? :)

Me :) took coblet to a dressage competition... Ended up winning it! Don't quite know how because there's no such thing as an outline with him. What did amaze me though is when we came out he got a carrot... Went for a trot around the warm up and he suddenly turned into a dressage pro and went beautifully around and in an outline on the bit  he's getting a carrot before he goes in next time ;)

Had a lesson this morning she was aright baggage this morning it took a good twenty minute before she settled. When she eventually calmed down she done some lovely work :).

I did! Managed to find a field that wasn't boggy or too icy, so we had a few gallops with a couple of excited bucks thrown in! Didn't go too far, my hands started to go numb and the light was fading as I left it too late really, but glad we got out.

Me, though I cant actually remember the last day I didn't ride.

Yesterday my local hunt had a joint me, so I took colored mare out at first horses (because she's the oldest sound horse of the bunch, so I thought she'd be most sensible... wrong!) then at the change Ripley came out for his first time. So both of them went for a quick leg stretch to loosen up a bit.

Then had my 2 bay 4y/o OTTBs to school (it's gotten to the point where I have to check I'm getting on the right one!). This is no stirrup December for my students, so I'm joining in, having taken the stirrups off my schooling saddles. The others have had the day off, because after slipping on ice last night I'm feeling rather sore :(

I went out for a good two hours at lunchtime, had to do a bit of a detour to get out of our lane to start because of ice, but once we were out on the roads and lanes, all was clear. I rode to some woods at the top of the Cotswold escarpment where there is a bridleway, so got a good trot up the hill and a nice pootle through the beech woods up there. Had to negotiate a fallen tree which entailed me getting off and moving some branches, horsey was good and tried to help!!
Didn't have any music to listen to so made my own by singing my favourite Levellers songs, think that Ruby Mare likes my singing, hmmm
My toes were blinking cold when I got back mind!!

Well done xmas coblet!! :)

Have to admit...at points I had dropped the reins and was trying to warm my hands up lol!

I did! Blitz around the fields. Was ready to accept the loss of my thumbs by the time I got back. You'll all be pleased to know I still have them! Thawed out eventually :-) love a ride in the frost

Me! Fortunately we have lots of tracks where we are so I was out first thing...lots of slow and steady work as it was solid underfoot but still lovely.

I went out just after 2.00 as I was waiting for the ice to go off the road, and I nearly waited too long as on the way back I could feel the temperature droping. I think horse could do as we did a spanking trot for quite a way.

I don't mind riding if it is a bit frosty, if the horse has kneeboots, but I can't find them. I have looked everywhere they should be twice, and they still haven't been found. It is so annoying. It is definitely stopping me going out in the mornings.

We had a lovely, if a little slippery and freezing cold, hack in the Surrey Hills. Springy is still getting used to the various 'livestock' we encounter (Galloway cows, rare breed sheep and donkeys!), but strode out ears pricked the whole way. Loving our new yard and bridleways. :-)

Took the Sparkly one round the fields this afternoon and she can only be described as feeling 'SPARKLY'!! :D So much for a nice relaxing plod.........

Me - shortest hack ever, 15 minutes! There is a reason for that, today is my father's birthday, he would have been 75, he died on 19th May. Mum and I were going to his grave to lay flowers and a wreath, and to my grandparents grave too at a different cemetary.

Before that I helped put up the Christmas trees in Moretonhampstead, people pay for them to be put up on brackets on their houses, ready dressed with lights, sadly hardly anyone turned up to help and so I curtailed my ride to help out. I can see that next year no one will organise this, very sad but it's just too much for one or two people to do alone.

Yes took slightly fresh older boy for a quick hack this afternoon. Managed to avoid the icy patches which wasn't easy as he likes to jump on the icy bits and do a daredevil slide :)

I did.
Decided to expore a bridleway on my own.
Got horribly lost, horse got shut in a self closing gate. No injurys thank goodness but no way was he going near a gate again so i had to get off and lead him down a stupidly boggy field where he spooked at a pheasant and nearly landed on me!
Eventually got back to a road and figured out where i was but would he stand for me to get back on? Would he flip! Luckily a kind person who was pottering in her garden offered to hold him!
Rest of the ride was thankfully uneventful!

I had a lush schooling session on spot bott. After his unplanned time off due to back/ saddle problems, he had gotten worse on his left canter rein again. However, today he was wonderful! Amazing transitions, really soft and listening to me. Can't wait to get out competing again in january!

Me! Three of us went out this morning and had a lovely hack. Ground was too hard for canter but there was some good trotting. Painful feet on landing when we got home. We need a soft landing invention.

I did. Lovely schooling session worked on our changes. One lovely clean change then I start riding like an 8 year old! Ah we'll a work in progress. Was lovely and sunny x

Yes we did, a good half hour in the school, with THREE other horses - a first for us that Shy not only behaved (apart from one big buck) while schooling, but he usually throws his toys out of the pram when other horses are in the school - very proud mum :D

Way too icy to even venture off the yard.

I rode early this morning & when I arrived at the yard it was -6 :(. Me & my sharer was the only 1's that rode everyone decided to give it a miss, so not sure if we was mad or stupid probs a bit of both :p. We only went out for an hour as it was FREEZING I just wanted to cry my toes were that cold lol
