have just been out and bought a lorry, I need to insure it and also get breakdown cover on it before I collect it. Has to have some work done first so I have a few days to find cover.

Please can you recommend an insurance company, would ideally like breakdown from them as well as insurance.

We've always insured with NFU as they've been doing horsebox insurance for years so know what they're doing and their breakdown is reliable and legal (some other insurance companies don't do the breakdown bit so well!!!)

I used a company called acadamy for my 7.5tn. their breakdown was very comprehensive, i was a tad picky about it as i had an older lorry and knew id be doing long trips so wanted to ensure they covered stabling horse/lorry recovery etc with out any stupid small print. They use i think equity redstar ?

Also when it came to cancelling they were brilliant, no arguments, £25 admin fee and that was it!

Equine Rescue Services for breakdown recovery!!!

For your lorry road insurance totally depends upon the lorry!!! NFU are very good - no quibling for paying out for any damage! Been with them 10 years now
