Who to report to?

police and USPCA first I would say, as they could prob take action, the dog warden may only beable to give advice i.e "don't leave the dog in the car like that" lol, which they will prob ignore.

I was so angry the other day, my friend told me they saw a dog in a car at the supermarket, in the weather we've been having.

Awh but they left the window open a tadge!

I wanted to get in the car, drive down and smash their window, take the dog and leave a burnt chicken carcass in its place to make a point.

Then take aforementioned dog back to mine for kisses :D

how do you know it needs reporting? I take my dogs with me in the car, in fact they go everywhere, they are fine in the car - huge pick up boot. it has tinted opening windows and in the boot they have beds, water, and chews. I park it in shade, or leave them for a short time only. One of my dogs yodels every now and then, he is not yodelling because he is in distress, he is yodelling because he is seriously pissed off with the fact he cannot come with me. he is also seriously pissed off that some do gooders go near his car and peer in at him. I have never and would never leave them in the car when it is hot, but I have had some serioulsy deranged notes left on my car threatening physical violence to me when actually my car is in a multi storey car park, it is cool, they have chews, water and bedding and are actually only being left for a short time.

Also one of mine gets seriously distressed if left at home, to the extent that he ate a door frame. He is however happy to be left in the car and will happily sit in that for hours, in fact if i leave the door open he will sit in it all day at home.

Maybe the fact she is leaving it with the window cracked the tiniest bit, no water to be seen, no toys/chews and sitting right out where the sun is beating in while she goes off to work?

thats fine then - report her, it is totally unacceptable to leave a dog in a hot car - ever - but I see so many ranting responses on here about dogs in cars and for some of us it is a sensible viable option. I am not suggesting for one moment you are a ranting do gooder - far from it - but others on this thread have not actually asked what the situation is with the dog and have jumped on the 'hang draw and quarter the person for the henious crime'. I am very concious of not castigating people without cause. I was threatened with serious physical injury simply because some nutter decided my dog was in distress. The notes left on my car were taken to the police who treated them as serious threats. My dogs were never in danger but those nutters were happy to endanger me.

I trust Gina has enough wit and knows enough about dogs to distinguish a dog in an unsuitable/dangerous environment than one which is comfortable so no, I wouldn't question her.

I know people who travel all over the UK and Europe with their dogs, who obviously have to spend a lot of time in trailers, crates etc when they are not competing so I am of course not against dogs having to spend time in cars, my mother and I travelled up and down the country with our dogs when we were showing and my old dog would jump into any open car she saw because she loved being driven :o but if Gina is concerned, then like I say, I am not going to question her, she is obviously not doing it lightly.

As Colleen referred to, we saw a very distressed dog, barking its head off, which had obviously been locked in a small car in a busy exhibition centre car park, with the window open a tiny slit while the owner went to see...The Dog Whisperer. Not comparable to my situation, or yours, Bosworth.

Thanks CC, I'm glad some people know I have a little sense about dogs ;) :p :D the bugger cleared off outta work before I had chance to report her. Next time, I will be onto the phone straight away.
