Watching share horsey's behaviour over the last few weeks and consulting with people on here I *speculate* that he has issues with uncomfy girth/saddle or gastric ulcers.

Having a lesson with instructor that owner uses at the weekend so thought I should check what she thought. Not sure if I should mention to owner first though? Would normally think to but won't be seeing her before then and worried it might sound a bit critical in e-mail as I think he's been having same issues for years, owner is more experienced (but a fair bit younger) than me and we're new to each other.

Ring the owner?!

Just phrase it carefully so she does not feel got at - tell her you got an email from a feed company about ulcers or some such, it rang a bell, you did a bit of reading and you are sure she has looked into saddle/girth/ulcers as an explanation but you just wanted to check for your own peace of mind.

I probably wouldn't raise it with anyone before the owner to avoid her being put on the defensive because she's got the impression you don't think she has investigated things properly or whatever.
