It has been recommended to me after a previous post about using a chambon, I was wondering what results you have seen using this and what made you use in the first place.
I originally started using it last summer when he didn't have a great topline and had a weak looking bum. Combined with plenty of ridden hill work, schooling etc. he looked so much better at the end of the summer. I still use it as IMO it's more beneficial for him compared to him being lunged with no "gadgets"
I swear by mine now, I started using it a few months ago to build autumn's top line and noticed a big difference after the first week. Since using it regularly her back has really loosened up, she no longer goes round with her tail clamped down to her bum, and her paces have got longer and freer and more expressive. Would never use another gadget now!!
I've used one for about 12 weeks now on a pony who had been ridden in straight lines out hunting hard and fast for 4 seasons in a standing martingale. When we took off the SM he chucked his head all over the place, had muscle in all the wrong places and was 'pulling' himself along from the front rather than 'pushing' from behind and when the chiro lady came out she was really concerned about his sacroilliac region and I was VERY worried about his future.
So lunged 6 days a week, starting with 10 mins only and then building up and now he's being ridden out without any gadgets and is going really well. He is in a much better outline, is able to stretch down and his back is much more supple and strong, with lovely bouncy hocks and quarters. Overall it's been fantastic and although at the beginning of it I couldn't see the end of the tunnel, I'm so glad I stuck with it.
I now use it on several of my others as I am now able to see that they aren't moving properly (couldn't see a problem before!) and I think they are all benefiting, although I've had to search around for different makes/sizes to fit them all. I really think it is a worthwhile exercise for a lot of horses/ponies.
