Who was Rhett Butler xx?

Frankly my dear I don't give a damm, is that what he said in the film (Gone with the wind)? Sorry LOL. SN on here might be able to fill you in on him.

He was a TB stallion and a superb eventing sire. He's still 33rd in the all time list of Eventing stallions, ahead of such famous names as Criminal Law, Aberlou and Skippy. His best eventing offspring were Rainbow Magic 740 points, Matt Butler 651 points and Saucy Brown 310 points.

His pedigree is here:

And according to this he was the damsire of the great Kilbaha. Nice horse to have in a pedigree. :)

Thanks everyone! I am very happy with Annie. I dont own her dam but maybe I can get her on loan next year to breed again.

Hopefully Annie will be a great competition horse (eventing or sh), a great friend and later, a great mother.

Do you have any pictures of Rhett? Who was riding him?

where did you find the list of eventing stallions?

If you do a google search for " British Eventing breeding " you will get the page that lists the all time top event stallions (based on British Eventing points), the sires of the top mares, top 7 year olds, 6 year olds and 5 year olds. Its an excellent resource.

http://www.britisheventing.com/page.asp?section=261&sectionTitle=Breeding+to+event

There is also the WBFSH list of the top sires but this is less reliable than the BE lists because so many top eventers at international level are listed as being of unknown breeding. The majority of those are Irish and British bred. Because the points won by those horses are lost the continental stallions rise to the top. If the breeding of all the top event horses had been correctly recorded I think the WBFSH list would be rather different.
