My puppy has taken a liking to the crusts off of the children's wholemeal toast in the mornings, and I was worried about the butter on it so have given him his own (plain) slice this morning... he's going through that chewing stage right now, and he seems to enjoy knawing on toast (has taken it to his bed and stayed there happy as larry). He goes through chews like wildfire, but a slice of toast lasts him a couple of hours or more.

Do you think it would do him any harm?? And if so, apart from proper dog chews, anything else I could give him to keep him from chewing everything in sight??

I don't think it would do him any harm but I would worry that he will get into the habit of scrounging whenever the kids are eating. I would set a rule that the dog never has any human left-overs (and if at all then they should be given in his bowl with his normal meal). Otherwise kids tend to get into the habit of sharing food with them

I think pigs ears are a great treat, or paddywhacks

he gets fed after the kids have breakfast, and they don't feed him scraps from the table, it's always put in his bowl. Started with just one crust, i'll try the pigs ears, thanks, though he has a hoof and doesnt like that?
